What experts liked

The very best part of this kit for me was the ability to feel like I was having a fancy meal without any of the work. For those truly don’t want to, or don’t have time to cook, the grab, micro, and go method is a definite perk.

You can choose comfort foods (like shepherd’s pie), filling breakfasts (like a sweet potato bowl bursting with veggies), protein-packed snack plates, or healthy dinners (like a garlic Parmesan chicken breast paired with green beans and cherry tomatoes). Factor also offers meals that fit into keto, Paleo, low-carb, plant-based, vegetarian, and high-protein diets. As for ingredients, Factor is very careful about sourcing—only using organic produce, cage- and antibiotic-free eggs and poultry, plus grass-fed/pasture-raised meat. Even its salmon is certified according to the Best Aquaculture Practices.

I was impressed by the quality and taste of each dish. They were all fresh and delicious and exceeded my expectations for refrigerated or pre-made meals. The shrimp, for example, were plump and juicy, and the garlic spinach that came with the pesto salmon — probably my favorite side — was creamy and flavorful.

Every meal Factor_ provides has the full nutrition breakdown listed on the package, which is a plus to the service. If you’re strictly on-the-go and want to avoid guesswork, then this is a positive feature. Additionally, they list every ingredient, so there’s no guessing as to what gets put into a meal.
- Bar Bend
Brings you fresh food that stays that way for days. Nothing is frozen and this is reflected in the taste of the food. Also, every meal is completely made from scratch by professional chefs using completely fresh ingredients.
- Boat Basin Cafe
Factor 75 meals offer a good variety of Keto and a few Paleo options for people following those diets. It’s also great for individuals like myself who want a quick and healthy meal that isn’t too high in calories.
- The Creative Bite
The Factor 75 meal delivery service may suit someone who wants a healthful diet but has a busy lifestyle or limited cooking skills. The meals are convenient and take the stress out of shopping, preparing, and cooking.

I felt like Factor was tailor-made for me. I loved that it took away the stress and hassle of not only knowing what to eat but having the time to make it – and make it well. The 20-minute complimentary session with a nutritionist was amazing and very helpful. It was an appreciated touch, and one I’ve never seen from a meal delivery service.

What experts didn't like

Even though it was a microwave meal, there are a few sticky steps, such as flipping each (hot) pancake and then making sure the butter is melted all the way through the stack of three cakes.
- New York Post
If you're vegan or plant-based, you'll probably have better luck with a service like Veestro, which is completely catered towards plant-based lifestyles.
- Business Insider
My main issue with their meal’s appearance comes with the containers they come packaged in. There’s a lot of air in-between the food the roof of the package, so we found a few of our meals got tossed around in shipping, so they looked slightly messy (which is something that one must account for with shipping).
- Bar Bend
Factor 75 meals are meant to be microwaved for 2-3 minutes before consuming. And as you might know, microwaving tends to make the food a little on the soggy side. Although the food will taste the way it should, the texture will be a little different.
- Boat Basin Cafe
The one drawback to this service was that they do tend to have higher sodium content than some of the other meal deliveries available. Sure, this adds great flavor, but it would be ideal if the sodium was a bit lower.
- The Creative Bite
t is important to note that the gluten-free meals may not be safe for people with celiac disease due to possible cross-contamination.
- Medical News Today
Meals are quite expensive compared to other meal delivery services. Upgrade options are pricey.

An Overview On Meal Delivery Kits

Takeout can be expensive, but cooking every meal at home quickly gets old. In recent years, a fun alternative to both options has popped up. Meal delivery kits are more expensive than buying the ingredients yourself but less expensive than takeout from your favorite restaurants. Some newer meal delivery kits are even as cheap as fast food.

But there’s no shortage of meal delivery kit services. There are so many, in fact, that it can be tough to choose just one. It’s important to know the different types of meal kit services so that you can narrow it down to those that interest you most.

Meal kits can be very convenient. Some services specialize in easy prep time. Kits with microwavable meals can be perfect for busy families. There are some that arrive with ingredients already chopped, saving you prep time. If you prefer the oven to the microwave, you can even find kits with meals that just have you piling everything into a provided pan and sticking it in the oven.

If you’re on a special diet, there are plenty of meal kits with plans for vegan, keto and calorie-conscious people. Some also offer help with food sensitivities, while others are perfect for the meat lover, even giving you the option of ordering double portions.

The Meal Delivery Kit Buying Guide

  • One thing to look at while you’re pricing plans is the cost of shipping. Some services offer free shipping, while others charge you as much as $9 or $10 per box. You’ll probably find some meal kits that base shipping charges on your location.
  • Meal delivery services typically have limited delivery days. That means you may only be able to choose between a Tuesday or Wednesday, for instance, or maybe a Friday or Saturday. If you opt for a kit with fresh ingredients, keep in mind that you may need to serve those within three days of arrival, which may not fit well with your family schedule.
  • Packaging can be extreme with meal delivery services. Food has to be shipped with ice and plenty of padding, so you’ll have quite a bit to jam into the recycle bin. If you’re environmentally-conscious, some meal delivery kits use both eco-friendly and recyclable packaging.
  • Although meal delivery services typically require a monthly subscription, you can skip multiple weeks at any time. You can even pause your service and pick it up again a few months later.
  • Grocers are getting in on the meal delivery kit trend. You may see a display at your local grocery store. If you use Amazon Fresh, they also have meal kits available for delivery.
