Our Toddler Snow Suit Buying Guide
Snow bibs are not exactly the same as snowsuits. The bibs are like ski pants, but with more coverage, with a look similar to overalls. They can feel bulky under ski jackets, which can be constraining for skiers. Snowsuits look more like coveralls.
Infant and toddler snowsuits are sold in sizes 0 to 24 months, and 2T to 6T, respectively. After that, you can choose from little kid sizes (4 to 6X) and big kid/tweens (7 to 16), as well as extended sizes (18 to 20). Snowsuits are one the warmest kinds of outdoor wear, but keep in mind that when the child is still in diapers, taking a snowsuit on and off can be inconvenient.
Snow bib sets that come with jackets are perfect for when kids get overheated from play; simply take off the jacket and put it somewhere it won’t get lost. Bibs are a good option for children, as they have adjustable straps that can be let out as kids grow.
DWYM Fun Fact
There’s nothing cuter than a toddling toddler wearing their first snowsuit, meandering outside in the snow. They are prone to falling, though, so parents and caregivers need to keep a close watch. It’s always good to have a brightly colored snowsuit, which makes it easy to find toppled-over little ones.
Another great idea is to stick on a few reflective patches on their snowsuits. You never know what those kids will get into!
The Toddler Snow Suit Tips and Advice
- Snowsuits and bibs can be toasty warm, but little ones should not wear them in car seats, since they can interfere with the car seat harness adjustment or prevent proper safety mechanisms in the event of an accident. Let small children wear thinner winter jackets while traveling in car seats, and switch to the heavier ones after getting them out.
- Buy a snow bib or snow bib set up a size (as long as it isn’t far too large). With proper care, it should last for two or more seasons.
- If the bib or jacket gets stained, try wiping it down with a damp cloth first. You may be able to avoid having to put it in the washing machine.
