What We Liked: With two types of PVC in this product, the top half is hard and grips the door firmly, while the bottom part of the Aulett Home Frameless Shower Door Seal is soft enough to flex and bend so it creates a seal. This seal is ideal for a door with 3/8″ thickness and offers a money-back guarantee.

Prime-Line Frameless Shower Door Seal

What We Liked: Cover up the entire bottom part of your wide shower door with the Prime-Line Frameless Shower Door Seal that can span up to 36 inches. The double seal on the bottom gives you extra resistance against water penetrating and finding its way to your floor.

Yecaye Frameless Shower Door Bottom Seal

What We Liked: We like the added flair that juts out of the Yecaye Frameless Shower Door Bottom Seal as it acts as the primary layer to deflect water before it ever reaches the bottom part of the seal. The seal is clear so you hardly see it and it installs very easily with nothing more than a utility knife.

Butecare Frameless Shower Door Bottom Seal

What We Liked: Get two seals in one package with the Butecare Frameless Shower Door Bottom Seal that is designed with two sealing layers and one that deflects water from the top. The installation is a breeze and the additional seal means you can do two bathrooms at one time or simply keep the spare for replacement down the road.

Bathenum Frameless Shower Door Seal

What We Liked: The bottom part of the Bathenum Frameless Shower Door Seal extends down to cover a gap up to 0.63″ which can be useful if your shower door has a pretty big gap under it. The seal will fit a door that is 1/4″ thick and has a second seal at the bottom for a two-part approach to keeping water at bay.

Our Shower Door Bottom Seal Buying Guide

Large glass shower doors are great at letting light into the shower and giving the bathroom a more open feeling. The clear glass door lets you see the beautiful tile-work and fixtures in the shower which can oftentimes be as beautiful as the bathroom itself. One major flaw with these showers doors, however, is that they need to have a gap below and around them so as to keep them from hitting the floor or walls next to them, which could cause them to chip or break.

Due to this necessary gap, water can very easily find its way around or beneath the shower door and create a big puddle outside of the shower. This puddle is not only cold and uncomfortable to step in, but it is also a big safety hazard as it can create a slippery situation in the very spot you plan to step onto when you exit the tub.

To save yourself from having to battle against this puddling with each and every shower you take, you are going to want to install a shower door bottom seal that will be almost invisible to the eye but it will kick all that water back into the drain where it belongs, instead of in the middle of your bathroom floor.

Shower door bottom seals are usually clear and made from a waterproof rubber or vinyl material. The thickness of your door will be important when you purchase the door bottom seal as they need to fit snugly on the glass since they have no hardware to keep them affixed. The right seal for your shower door bottom will be designed for the thickness of your specific door, so grab your tape measure or a ruler and determine this measurement as your first course of action.

Don’t put that ruler away just yet. You will need to measure the gap between the bottom of the door and the surface beneath it, which might be the edge of the shower tile or sometimes just the floor itself. The gap that is below the door is of utmost importance as you search for the right door bottom seal. You will need the seal to be slightly longer than this gap, but not by much. If you have a seal that is even 1/16″ longer than the existing gap, it will create an effective seal. If the door bottom seal is the exact length of the gap, there can be instances when water will squeeze its way through this tiny area.

The final measurement is the width of the door. You will need the shower door bottom seal to be at least as long as the width of the door or you’ll be letting water out at the edges if it’s too short to span the entire length. Luckily you can order a seal that is too long and cut it to size with a utility knife.

DWYM Fun Fact

The act of getting into, or stepping out of the bath or shower is actually a very risky time for most people. Regardless of age, more than half of emergency room visits are direct results of someone slipping in their bathroom. When you enter the shower or bath you are less likely to fall, but when you step out your chances increase. The invention of the door seal is a fantastic way to keep yourself safe by preventing a pool of water to form directly outside your shower door.

The Shower Door Bottom Seal Tips and Advice

  • Water can splatter out of the side-gap on your shower door as well so keep that in mind as you go through the process of sealing the door.
  • Remove your shower door bottom seal every so often and give it a thorough cleaning. It can slowly harbor old water and possibly bacteria just like anything else that near to water.
  • Even after you’ve installed your shower door seal, be cautious whenever entering or exiting the shower or tub. Don’t assume the floor will be grippy and safe when you’re stepping onto it or you might be surprised when you slip and fall.
