This 50/50 blend of fine leather and Cordura makes for a great option for those of you who enjoy the best of two worlds: modern achievements of technology with an old-school flair. What really makes these shoes shine, however, is the removable dual-density polyurethane padding.
With Thorogood you get the “Z-Trac” slip-resistant rubber outsole. This has a gripping pad and rugged lugs to make sure you have solid traction on any surface. Our experience is really good with the traction on these, especially in rocky and arid terrain.
These snake hunting shoes easily slide onto your foot and secure with side zip. The side zip on these boots provides a secure feeling without being uncomfortable. This pair of shoes has a 17-inch upper that will keep most of your lower legs protected.
A rubber toe cap is also added. The boots are completely sealed. They’re waterproof and can even prevent blood-borne pathogens from going through. A zipper closure is used. It extends all the way up the shaft from the arch of the boots.
What reviewers didn't like
The only bad-ish thing I can say about this model is that the design is a hit or miss.
The zipper can break. This is by far the most common customer complaint on the Thorogood (and on more or less every other side-zip boot as well).
You’ll want to break these shoes in well before wearing them on a full day of hunting. One thing to keep in mind with this pair of boots is that they do not provide any insulation.
