What reviewers liked

It's a fun gateway game. I enjoy the basic building and drafting mechanics. Depending on your tastes, this game could be a hit in your group.
Great intro to Card Drafting mechanic. Glorious artwork. Engaging game player and player interaction. It is actually educational. Before this, I did not really know what the 7 Wonders were past the Pyramids.
It was unquestionably the most anticipated game of the Essen crop. And the good news is that 7 Wonders very much lives up to its advance notice. It accomplishes just about all of its very ambitious goals and does so in an entertaining and very replayable fashion.
Incredible art. Tons of strategy. Accessible to nearly any level player. Easy to learn. Every turn is a difficult decision. Early decisions have long-term effects. Absolutely fantastic.
This game challenges players to use multiple, advanced strategies to build an ancient civilization over three fast-paced rounds.

What reviewers didn't like

I feel like there were a lot of missed opportunities that could have made this game truly great. The expansions help, especially the first one, Leaders, but I generally am against buying games that only really have legs once you invest even more money in expansions.
Best with higher player numbers. The draft mechanic isn't for everyone. No direct player conflict.
I have one nagging concern. You make lots of decisions during a game of 7 Wonders: Some of them are automatic and some take some real thought. But it’s not clear to me that most of them matter a great deal, at least in terms of wins and losses.
Sold out everywhere.
This game’s high strategy level means it can take a few rounds to master. Scoring can be tricky.
