Walmart and FedEx are teaming up to offer customers another way to pick up purchases. As part of its expanding Ship to Store program, Walmart now allows shoppers to choose a local FedEx location as a delivery point instead of the closest Walmart location, at no additional cost!

This is a fantastic option for people who love to choose their items online but don’t want items shipped to their doorstep because of possible porch thieves, or for those who don’t meet the $35 minimum for free shipping.

How does this Walmart/FedEx partnership work? It’s pretty easy, actually!

Simply do your online shopping at Walmart as you normally would, taking note that only items sold directly through Walmart are eligible for the FedEx delivery option. In addition, “bulky or heavy” items can’t be picked up at FedEx. But don’t worry. The Walmart website will let you know whether or not the items you have your eye on are eligible for FedEx pickup.

Once you fill your cart with eligible items, Walmart will show you the closest participating FedEx pickup locations based on your zip code. While not all FedEx Office stores are part of this program, it is expanding.

Your Walmart order will usually be ready for pickup at your selected FedEx Office store within two to three business days. You’ll see an estimated delivery date when you check out. When your order is ready for pickup, Walmart will send you an email. Or, if you prefer, you can sign up for text notifications.

To pick up your order, bring a government-issued photo ID and your FedEx tracking number. The tracking number can be found in your pickup email. You can designate someone else to pick up your order during checkout if you know you won’t be able to make it to the store yourself. That designated person will need a photo ID and the tracking number, too.

Your FedEx Office location will hold your packages for up to five business days or seven calendar days. After this time, the items will be returned to Walmart and you will be refunded your money.

Will you take advantage of this new pickup option?
