So, if you live in a state where you have the choice of shopping at Wal-Mart or Aldi, you may need to do a price comparison at both stores before making a purchase—at least while Wal-Mart’s price testing is in effect. (You could also use this cool new Basket app, which compares prices for you.)
According to Slate, Aldi has two business divisions: Aldi Sud and Aldi Nord. Aldi Sud operates as Aldi in the U.S., but Aldi Nord operates as Trader Joe’s. According to the publication, Trader Joe’s is more “Americanized,” whereas Aldi still operates with European practices, such as having to put down a deposit in order to use a grocery cart.
Whether or not you’ve ever been to Aldi, you’ve got to admit that your interest is piqued by now! If the only thing you ever get from Aldi is savings at Wal-Mart, well then, so bet it.
