If you purchased children’s clothing at Target within the past year or so, then you need to know about two recalls recently announced by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.
And if you do own any of the recalled items, immediately stop using the product on your child and return it to your nearest Target store for a refund.
Cloud Island Waterfront Baby Boutique Rompers
The first recall involves 299,000 of the Cloud Island Waterfront Baby Boutique Rompers for Infants. According to the recall notice, the snaps from these baby clothes “can break or detach from the rompers, posing a choking, laceration and pinching hazard to children.”
These rompers were sold at Target stores across the country and online through Target.com, GoogleExpress.com, and Shipt.com from July 2019 through October 2020.
There have been 16 reports to the CPSC of the snaps breaking or detaching from the clothing. Two children were reported to be injured from these incidents: one was scratched and the other was pinched.
The recall includes several of the rompers featuring different patterns that were sold in sizes newborn to 12 months. You can find more info and photos — plus a list of the recalled products’ item numbers — here.
Cat & Jack One-Piece Rashguard Swimsuits
The second Target clothing recall involves the Cat & Jack One-Piece Rashguard Swimsuit product line for infants and toddlers.
According to the recall notice, the swimsuits have snaps that can break or detach and possibly cause injury to children or pose a choking hazard. So far, the CPSC has received 27 reports of snaps breaking or detaching, which has led to one report of a child being lacerated.
The CPSC believes about 181,000 of these swimsuits were sold between December 2019 and October 2020 for around $15 each. The items being recalled include Cat & Jack “Summer Blue Lemon,” “Coral Icon Story Hawaiian” and “Moxie Peach Lemon” one-piece swimsuits in sizes 12 months to 5T.
