Weber 62006001 Genesis II S-435 4-Burner Liquid Propane Gas Grill

Last updated: September 9, 2021

Although a bit on the pricy side, the Genesis II grill is iGrill3 ready, with a thermometer that connects to an app alerting you when your food is ready. You'll get even cooking and those coveted sear marks on your meat. However, having only two grills can make it less than ideal if you're cooking for large groups. One thing that sets the Genesis II apart from others is its durable welded-beam frame, promising many years of reliable use.

Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

This gas grill heats consistently and evenly for an exceptional grilling experience.
They even warranty the ignition system for that long, giving this grill the longest and most complete warranty in the industry. Weber's legendary support remains unchanged and with this warranty, the rest of the business is going to have to catch up on reliability.
The Weber Genesis II is built to last, easy to clean and packs powerful burners. Its smart capabilities and app provide useful grilling help.
-
Less expensive than other Weber midsize grills, this sturdy model also doesn't perform quite as well in cooking tests. Where it stands out is in indirect cooking, and the evenness of the heat is impressive.
Very efficient grill that has a side burner and is great for small families or gatherings. Very good ignition system, too.
The externally mounted propane tank is easier to install and replace than traditional under-grill tanks, and it also frees up the area under the grill for storage of tools and other items. Plus, the frame is made of sturdy welded beams, not folded sheet metal like many grills in its price range.
The Genesis II features Weber's new GS4 grilling system, consisting of their Infiniti Ignition with an impressive ten year warranty, tapered-quadrangle shaped burners to replace tube burners, tried and true porcelain coated steel flavorizer bars and a new grease management system located under the center of the cast aluminum fire box. A slide out tray holds a disposable aluminum pan for easy clean up. Grates are porcelain enameled cast iron which will help the relatively low powered burners put some sear marks on meats.

What reviewers didn't like

There is no side burner.
Relatively low heat output for the size.
It takes practice to use this grill to its best. It's expensive and its connected features cost extra.
-
The preheat time and high/low temperature range are both middling.
Two-burner grill feels more than a bit cramped at times.
It would be nice if they would go digital in the digital age and it appears with their acquisition of iGrill digital thermometers, this is begining to change.
