Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

The affordable Vizio M-Series has excellent overall image quality, with deep black levels, plenty of brightness, rich contrast and accurate color. It handles both HDR10 and Dolby Vision high dynamic range sources
The Vizio M Series 2018 is a good 4k TV for a wide range of usages. It has a high native contrast ratio so blacks appear deep in a dark room, but unfortunately, the local dimming doesn't work well to improve them further.
The M-Series has some small improvements over last year's model, such as full array backlighting and up to 48 local dimming zones in the case of the 70-inch model.
The M-Series isn’t perfect, but it's a great HDR TV withs ton of upsides, especially if you're prioritizing affordability.

What reviewers didn't like

Ultimately, the TCL 6 series does what the Vizio M-Series has done for the last couple of years, just a little better
Motion handling is also decent, but the image degrades when viewed at an angle.
While the black levels are not at the top of the range they're certainly passable and this series, more than any other in Vizio's line-up, has always struck the best balance between price and features.
If your secondary priorities include zippy, easy-to-use software, you might want to consider the TCL 6 Series, which performs similarly and comes with the brilliant Roku smart platform built-in.
