Expert Reviews
What reviewers liked
A potable model that gets praise for its durability and sporty looks.
Also impressive is the angled, five-inch square pole system (extendable from 7½ feet to ten feet by turning a crank) with welded struts. It holds the backboard firmly in place without annoying vibrations and leaves a good amount of maneuvering room under the hoop.
The three-piece, 3.5-inch steel pole provides stability in order for you to play without fearing for your safety. Due to the fact that the backboard offset measures 16 inches, it offers an extended play underneath it.
The red steel rim is the breakaway kind.
The Spalding NBA Hybrid System features a three-piece support pole, which makes it quite sturdy and durable.
However, this basketball hoop’s uniquely designed base can hold 200 pounds of sand or gravel as well as 19 gallons of water. The lid of the base also opens up to make adding these stabilizing substances extremely easy.
What reviewers didn't like
Difficult to put together - instruction lack details.
Are there any drawbacks at all? The review team found only two: this unit is so large and complex that it can take hours to assemble it, and it may not fit in a small driveway.
Needs a large area for proper use; takes up more space than people imagine
You’re going to need some help in a couple of place. Expect the assembly to take at least 3-4 hours.
This model is another great release from Spalding, though it will cost you a bit more than the Pro Slam Portable System, and it starts at $522.
Some claimed that it was decently easy to put together with two people, but others had difficulty following the directions. There were also reports that some screws were missing.
