Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

Highs: Cleaning performance was very good. - Drying performance was excellent.
Fantastic suction and cleaning. Thorough upholstery attachments. Easy-to-use tanks.
The unit’s weight and size are absolutely perfect. I am somewhat of a weakling, yet have never been forced to grunt, when utilizing or lifting this product. It weighs just 39 pounds, which puts it well under the weights of many of its competitors. This is truly one of the most notable benefits associated with the Rug Doctor. I absolutely love its size.
The neat case hides a powerful cleaning system, fueled by a 1.74 HP motor. The 10" nozzle width is enough to help you clean carpets and area rugs fast and easy.
Deep cleans and fluffs carpet and excellent suction will lessen drying time. The large wheels make this behemoth easy to move around, foldable handle is adjustable and helps reduce vertical footprint for easier storage, 9 gallon water tank is huge and lessens the need to refill and empty and easy to use out of the box.
Picked up a significant amount of dirt in Institute tests and should work well on high-traffic areas. Extracted almost half of the water we put into the carpets. Controls are easy to understand and use. Manual is complete and accurate.

What reviewers didn't like

Lows: Noise performance was poor for this model.
Some owners complain that tanks are too small. A small percentage have received faulty units.
Although it is slightly uncomfortable to use, since it forces me to lean over to some degree.
This appliance is relatively heavy. It is hard to maneuver it around furniture. The size of the machine makes it predisposed to tipping. I would advise you to lean it next to a wall or at least make sure it will not completely tip over when left unattended.
Very expensive at $400 and pretty narrow cleaning path for a such a large machine. This is a heavy beast that could be hard to move up and down a flight of stairs, very loud – keep this away from toddlers and plastic handle may not hold up well over time.
The machine cleans and extracts only on the backward stroke, making it difficult to maneuver around a room. Can be heavy to push when filled with water.
