What reviewers liked
It has the option of a front or top opening, features an updated flip-top lid to make scooping quick and easy, and even comes with a walk-off platform to assist stepping in and out. There are a few features that make this litter box stand out from the crowd, starting with its appearance. It's actually quite attractive yet at the same time discreet.

The latest must-have litter box for cat owners who insist on having both style and functionality from their cat products. The Modkat XL incorporates even more cat friendly features than the regular Modkat Litter Box, and it manages to do so without sacrificing the modern aesthetics.
You can use this one as a top entry box, and if that does not work it can be configured as a side entry box. This one also has a reusable liner and each liner lasts up to 3 months.
The Modkat XL is a much larger litter box measuring 21″ long by 16.5″ wide by 17″ tall, perfect for larger breed cats. The Modkat XL is also offers a dual-entry configuration, use it either as a top-entry or side-entry litter box.
It’s a great looking litter box too. One of the things that really appealed to us (as the ones that have to clean the mess) is that it’s self-cleaning, and comes with a reusable liner. As a bonus, we were delighted to see that the mats clean litter of dirty paws, whether they’re leaving out the top or the side. It’s definitely a more advanced top entry litter box, but it’s basically effortless to set up.
What reviewers didn't like
It does require some minimal assembly, as you have to attach the hooks for the interior liner, fit the frame together for the top lid, and then place the lid in the frame. I found the pictorial instructions insufficient and had to resort to the how-to videos on the Modkat website.
You can't make the litter box only front-entry since the top opening is always open.
Very pricey. Only one color option. Proprietary tarp liners are pricey.
Buyers said it was good but just too expensive.
Not as large as some litter boxes, not recommended for multiple cats. Pricier than other litter boxes.
