The Summer House is truly an enjoyable and gorgeous read, just like the cover.
The Summer House is a charming tale of finding love when you least expect it and the importance of family and friends in one’s life. It’s heart-warming, at times heart-breaking, with characters readers will love. It’s a perfect summer read.
I truly loved this sunshine on a rainy day type novel; Jenny Hale has outdone herself once again by creating raw, emotional and extremely thought-provoking situations, all of which were surrounded by the serenity of the beach house.
What reviewers didn't like
While there are kind of two stories to follow, the whole mystery part is in the background and adds more drama to the book. It’s clear Jenny wanted to give the book more depth and complexity however I didn’t find it as interesting as the romance part.
I’ll admit it wasn’t hard to figure out who the journal entries were referring to, and I would have enjoyed that aspect of the story more if it was a little more difficult to figure out.
Personally, I felt that the romance part of the storyline was a teensy bit predictable.
