Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

The Igloo BMX 25 isn't the most rugged option out there, but it's a solid personal cooler that's bigger than we expected on the inside and is easy to carry, even when loaded with beverages or the day's catch.
If you are looking for a great cooler on a budget, Igloo is the obvious choice.
All the parts are made of rust-resistant stainless steel. The T-grip latches on the lid ensure it stays in place and opens and closes well on top of making it comfortable and easy to carry around. It is also light, and the triple-grip handle ensures that you will have an easy time moving it around.
We liked that the BMX wasn’t as heavy and bulky as the Yeti and RTIC. The top handle made the cooler easy for just one person to carry, even when it was fully loaded.
Durable everything. Features blow-molded construction, a reinforced base, stainless steel hardware, and rubberized T-grip latches. It is also lightweight. Extra thick insulation allows for 5 days of ice retention at 90-degrees. Super solid, and you can sit on it.
Extremely durable yet lightweight with proven 4-5 day ice retention
The insulation is impressive, too. It retained ice for up to 2.6 days in 40 degrees Fahrenheit in our insulation test. Its consistently thick wall may play a role here.

What reviewers didn't like

It lacks an air/watertight seal, which loses it some points on insulation, and the rubber latches can catch against your leg if you carry it the wrong way around, but it's miles ahead of your old ice bucket or gas station styrofoam.
With a lot of steel in this roto-molded design, it is undoubtedly strong but quite lightweight. This means that it has a little less insulation and that hurts ice retention but you should still be able to keep things going for at least a couple of days.
Slightly expensive
The lack of a drain is also a bummer
Some felt that this cooler was overpriced for what it does. Some buyers did their own ice test and report that this cooler only holds ice for about 1 to 2 days.
However, these latches are quite soft and can be damaged if pulled too hard or exposed to the sun for long.
