Holmes is another manufacturer that is as good as Honeywell. They are so notable that they back their products with a warranty. For example, they have backed this oscillating table fan with a 1-year limited warranty to protect it against the unfortunates. As if that’s not enough, they have equipped the fan with oscillation, so it can cover a wide area. Holmes has also made sure that this table fan is lightweight and very portable, so you can use it anywhere whether it is at home or in the office. Its tilt adjustable head will let you direct airflow where you want it. You can also change the oscillation speed to your liking with the two powerful speed settings.

This Holmes table fan might be just what you need for your thermic comfort at home or at the office. It comes in two sizes to choose from, one that is 8 inch and the other one that is 12 inch and the quality remains just as high for both types offered by this manufacturer. It has an oscillation technology to cover a wider area if it is so needed. The fan has two very strong speed options to choose from as well and the tilt head is adjustable according to your preferences. By adjusting the tilt head, you will be able to control the direction of the air flow in order to increase your comfort. This Holmes fan is perfect if you want to carry it from one room to another or even from your home to your office thanks to its increased portability.

The fan features two speed settings mainly low or high so you can opt to use it as a primary source of ventilation using the high settings or keep it at the low setting to save energy or use it to complement your air conditioner that’s running. Having a table fan to accompany an air conditioner allows the cool air from the air conditioner to spread more efficiently and provide cooling to parts of the room that were once impossible with just the air conditioner alone. If you’re going to position the fan on the ground, the fan’s “head” can be tilted up and down. The result is a lightweight and durable, portable fan that you can buy at a relatively low price.

The Holmes Lil' Blizzard 8-Inch Oscillating Table Fan is the best option for a small space like a desk or a bedside table. This wasn't the most powerful desk fan we tested, but it proved to be the most pleasant one to use. You get a pivoting head, the ability to oscillate in a wide 40-degree arc, and two power settings. These features aren't unique to the Holmes, but the combination gives you more than you get with any other fan at this size and price.

The Holmes Lil’ Blizzard is an oscillating desk fan eight inches in size. For around twenty dollars, this fan could be great for anybody looking for a quality oscillating fan while stuck on a budget. The fan is small and incredibly lightweight, making it great for use in even the tightest spaces. Office workers in cubicles could possibly find a lot of use in this one!

It comes with two strong speed settings, both of which work powerfully, and has an oscillation for wide area coverage, so you can share your cool air with a visitor. Its cord, which is about five feet long, makes it easy for you, so you don’t have to worry about the distance of the switch from your desk. Its cleanliness was also taken into consideration, and so the front grill was made detachable so you can easily clean it. The black color also makes it blend in with the rest of your space, and its plastic makes up, leaves it lightweight for easy transport. The Holmes Lil’ Blizzard 8-inch Oscillating Table Fan is also a power saver, using only about 84 watts for powering up. It is the perfect fan for your office, dorm room, and someone even used it for his bathroom. It is that versatile.

It is affordable. Compared to other fans, this one is smaller and lighter. Its size makes it easy for a customer to use it in a small space. You can tilt the head of the fan to adjust to the best angle that you think can give you more air.

Powerful little fan can produce some noise.

Most of the complaints about the Lil' Blizzard concern its build quality. People complain that it's made of flimsy plastic, and we're not going to lie—it totally is. Despite that, it still managed to pass our fingertip safety test, and none of the other fans in this category did that. One other flaw: The Lil' Blizzard was the loudest fan in its category, averaging about 70 dB(C).

Has only two powerful speed settings. Though worth its price, it appears cheap, as it is all in plastic.

It has two-speed options, but the two does not differ much from each other. You might not even notice the change of speed. You have to prepare an extension cord if you want to maximize its use because its cable is only 5 feet long. Take note also that this fan can produce some noise which is not recommended if you are a person that cannot focus well when it’s noisy.

An Overview On Table Fans

Whether you’re in an office space, dorm room or small room within your home, a table fan is a handy tool that will help keep you cool when temperatures are on the rise. Table fans also work well to circulate the air in the room so that it doesn’t become stagnant. There are several different table fan models on the market, so it’s helpful to review what each has to offer before coming to a final decision.

Kristin Forte/Simplemost Media

Start off deciding between an electric table fan or a battery-operated one. The battery-operated models are ideal for emergency situations or areas of the country where the power tends to go out more frequently. Electric fans are better for everyday use, as you won’t have to worry about running the battery down.

Next, consider how much space you need and whether you have a place to store the table fan when not in use. The O2COOL Portable Desktop Battery Fan actually folds up, which makes it a cinch to store just about anywhere without taking up the space you need for essentials.

Kristin Forte/Simplemost Media

The ability to control fan speed and direction is also important. The Honeywell HT-900 Turbo Force Fan has three different speed settings, as well as the ability to pivot up to 90 degrees. The Holmes Lil’ Blizzard Table Fan takes control one step further by also having blades that oscillate or turn from left to right to cover a larger area.

Check to see how portable the model you’d like to buy is. Does it have a handle that makes it easy to carry from one room to another, or is it so lightweight that you can simply pick it up and take it with you? This is important if you have several tasks to complete in different areas of the home.

Perhaps you’d like to invest in a table fan that has a host of extras. The Holmes Blizzard Rotating Fan with Remote Control allows you to set an automatic timer to the specific hour you’d like the fan to power down. It also has sleep and breeze modes, a storage compartment for the power cord and a remote for controlling the table fan from across the room.

DYWM Fun Fact

The first fans can be traced all the way back to 3000 BC. In addition to the traditional use of keeping a person cool, the Greeks and Romans also used fans during certain ceremonies. Of course, these fans were either fixed or folding fans. Electric fans, like we have today, weren’t popular until the 1880s. Most of these fans were made out of brass, although they have been made out of just about every material you can think of since that time.

The Orthodox church actually has a special fan called the Exapteriga, and it is either held by a server or placed next to the tabernacle. The fan features a Seraphim, which is a six-winged angel. This fan’s purpose is to remind the church congregation that the angels are all around the throne of God.

In London, you can actually visit a museum all about fans. You can start off exploring the ground floor galleries, which review how fans have evolved across history, and then stop for afternoon tea before you head to the upper floor galleries. The upper floor is dedicated to fan themes, and some of the galleries change throughout the year. For example, you may visit when the Gérard Lévy Collection is on display, or when European fans from the Romantic Age are on exhibit.

The Table Fan Buying Guide

  • Always check for a warranty and understand the details listed in the warranty before you buy the table fan. The warranty may say it’s good for 1 year, but that doesn’t mean it will cover a full replacement. The warranty may be limited to certain defects or repairs.
  • To help make your room even cooler, you can fill a bowl with ice and set it directly in front of the fan. This trick works well in smaller spaces.
  • Fans can also be used during the winter months. Since hot air rises, place your table fan on top of a dresser or tall bookshelf and position the airflow downward. As the hot air floats to the top of your room, the fan will blow it back down to keep you warm and toasty.
  • Fans collect dust, and there isn’t much you can do about that. Fortunately, cleaning the fan grill and blades isn’t hard. Most grills are removable, and you can run them under the faucet to rinse off any dust. The blades can be wiped down with warm water and a little dish soap. Some homeowners find it easier to use a vacuum attachment and go over the fan first, before they wipe it down with a wet soapy cloth. You may wish to finish cleaning the fan blades by drying them with a lint-free towel before replacing the grill.
  • Before using your table fan, there are a few safety checks you’ll want to perform. First, make sure the grill is intact so that the blades are not exposed. Second, check the wires for any fraying. Third, look over the plug and make sure the prongs are secure and not rusting. Finally, if you need to use an extension cord, do so only for a short time.
  • There are several factors that influence the price you’ll pay for a table fan. Battery-operated fans, such as the O2COOL Portable Desktop Battery Fan, tend to be cheaper than electric fans, like the Honeywell HT-900 Turbo Force Fan. In the middle, you’ll find the Holmes Lil’ Blizzard Table Fan, as it has all of the basic features you need in a table fan, plus a few extras. If you want bells and whistles, you’ll need to pay a little more. The Holmes Blizzard Rotating Fan with Remote Control has a slightly higher cost because it also has a remote control and automatic timer.
