Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

When the levels rose to what the Element deemed outside the good range, I would get a notification on my smartphone and the Element would also scroll this detail across its screen. Awair Element is a solid air monitor. We can certainly tell when the temperature is rising, for example. We also noticed when we were using some dry erase markers about five feet from the Element, that the chemicals levels started rising rapidly. As soon as we stopped using them, they lowered.
Thanks to a free app, the Awair Element allows you to check these air quality metrics at any time. The neat thing is that the Awair Element constantly displays the area’s “Awair Score,” which is a measure of its overall air quality; once you get used to its scoring, you’ll be able to tell the air quality of the space simply by looking at the device — no need to check your smartphone. Additionally, the Awair Element is also able to send your smartphone push alerts, in case something comes up.
Acts as a streamlined air monitoring device. That gives users a real-time readout of their air quality across five key metrics. The readouts are provided via a smartphone application when the gadget is connected to the internet. Or, users can rely on the built-in LEDs, which provide a quick-glance chart of air quality and a base score. The LEDs can also display a ton of more in-depth information as needed.
The design has had a nice tweak too, with the Element featuring soft rounded edges as opposed to the squared, frame-like finish present on its predecessors. Like those devices, the Awair Element can detect fine dust (known as PM 2.5) and help owners better understand the dangers of poor air quality within the home.
Based on my experience with other Awair air-quality monitors, I wasn’t surprised the Element’s readings were pretty accurate. Its temperature and humidity readings always jived with my indoor thermometer and hygrometer. More importantly, the Element helped me keep tabs on two factors that were bound to rise to unhealthy levels while my family was sealed indoors during the Covid-19 stay-at-home order: humidity and CO2. The Element alerted me each time these levels entered the orange or red zones, so I could crack open some windows and let in fresh air.
Awair utilizes real-time data to deliver personal feedback, connecting with smart products like Nest and Amazon Alexa. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology will get users up and running quickly and securely. Easy to install software and hardware and hassle-free download updates.

What reviewers didn't like

That reading wasn't easy to read, and only scrolled past once, hence our suggestion to enable notifications through the app.
Powered by wall adapter makes hiding cables more difficult. Difficulties can arise linking the app. Connecting to the app is a longer-than-expected process.
Awair does not monitor carbon monoxide.
