Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

The A10 offers very impressive audio performance for an entry-level headset, delivering punchy highs and a solid low end for just about every genre.
the A10 concentrates on delivering clean mids. That covers about 80 percent of what you’ll hear in any given setting, and Astro does a good job on that front.
Impressive audio performance
It is distortion-free even at the highest volumes, with clear accentuation across the entire spectrum. Punchy bass meets crisp highs, and while I don't think Astro headsets sound as rich as some other brands out there, that might be more of a personal preference. You won't be disappointed with the sound quality offered by the A10.
Deviating from its premium offerings, Astro's A10 Gaming Headset still delivers a quality aural experience without breaking the bank.
This headset won’t easily break unless you make a pointed effort.
The relatively plain visual design belies some very good ergonomic engineering. The plastic-covered headband is reinforced by steel, giving it impressive flexibility and sturdiness.
Sound wise they sound very good albeit a little bass heavy if listening to music. For gaming purposes they sound very good with one exception.
The A10s have a decent sound, a great mic, and a wired design so they have no latency.

What reviewers didn't like

The A10 is less than ideal for listening to music. I found that guitars and other treble tones simply sounded too muddy, whether I was headbanging to the Doom soundtrack or blasting the sunny indie rock of Tigers Jaw.
In music it might mean that complicated sections with lots of instruments will sound a bit messy—instruments don’t have enough room in the mix to breathe, and thus overlap and cause conflicts. In games, it might mean it’s hard to distinguish between an enemy next to you or right next to you.
No simulated surround sound
Perhaps my biggest complaint about the A10 is that it's a little constrictive over time. The headband sits a little too tight across the top and can feel a tad uncomfortable due to the small amount of foam used on the upper strap.
Astro's A10 feels like very little compromise at all. Its stereo sound isn't quite as vast as you'll find in surround-equipped options, it's certainly not the glitziest headset around, and you're always bound to a controller or device with the wire.
The Astro A10’s clamping force is higher than average, which can put pressure on the ears and side of the head, leading to discomfort after prolonged use.
So now the only issue would be the small ear openings if you have larger ears.
They won't be as convenient as wireless gaming headsets, since the audio cable does not have a lot of range.
