An Overview On Bidet Sprayers For Toilet
Bidets are common throughout many parts of the world as the primary means of cleaning yourself up after you use the restroom. A bidet is a device that connects to the water line that feeds into the back of your toilet, and it allows you to direct a jet of water up to the areas you need to clean after using the toilet. This use of the existing water-line makes them easy to install while also eliminating most of the need for toilet paper, which leads to sustainable cost savings and a lesser impact on the environment. If the idea of using a refreshing bidet is something you are thinking of pursuing, keep reading to see what factors are important in this decision.
Handheld bidets are one of two main styles of bidets that are generally available for residential use. The sprayer is a beefed-up version of the handheld sprayer that might accompany a kitchen sink and it often has one simple lever on the back that turns the water on, just like the one in the kitchen. The sprayer is attached to a hose that usually has a coiled-metal appearance.
For a style that involves less effort to use, there are bidets that mount under your toilet seat and are positioned in the upper-rear part of the toilet bowl, out of the way. The sprayer is angled to reach the desired area from where it sits, making it convenient in that you simply turn a knob at the edge of the toilet.
While either of these styles can have benefits, depending on the user, both of them operate in a similar manner. The nicer products will have adjustable pressures, which is a big factor in user-friendliness. If the water is spraying too hard and seems uncomfortable, you simply turn it down to a lower setting. They usually are designed to spray the water at the temperature it is in the pipes, which is normally below room temperature, but some of the nicer sit-down bidets do offer heated seats as a way to add comforting warmth to the process of using the toilet.
Installation of the sit-down models is a little bit more involved, but by no means is it beyond someone who is capable of using a basic tool like a wrench. The hardest part might be unscrewing the connection where the water-line enters the toilet, as it likely hasn’t been loosened in quite some time and will need a wrench and some elbow grease to get it off. But after a few minutes, the bidet is installed and works immediately, so there isn’t much to dread when it comes to the process of installing it.
The use of a water-jet to clean up after using the toilet leaves one feeling refreshed and very clean, but still partially wet. In this way, a bidet does not necessarily replace the need for toilet paper or some other way of drying yourself before returning to your day, but it does help cut back significantly on the amount of paper-product needed and you will likely see the entire cost of the bidet recouped quickly by your steep decline in toilet paper purchases.
The Bidet Sprayer For Toilet Buying Guide
- Practice using your bidet, especially a handheld one, to ensure you don’t get your clothes wet from poor aiming.
- For a sit-down bidet, move your body around a little bit to get the right angles for thorough cleaning.
- If you have guests who might not know how to use your bidet, a set of printable directions could be useful in the bathroom so they don’t have to ask awkward questions in front of other guests.
- Offer a roll of traditional toilet paper as a secondary option to guests if they aren’t familiar with your bidet.
