Get a free kids’ workshop kit from Home Depot

Like many other companies with events scheduled, Home Depot has been forced to cancel their popular monthly kids’ workshops in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Luckily, just because the no-cost, in-person workshops won’t be happening for the foreseeable future doesn’t mean the fun has to end. Instead of holding the events in-person, Home Depot is now giving out the kits for free so you and your little ones can do the projects at home.

Each kit includes what you would find at the in-person workshop, but they may also require some extra tools like a hammer, screwdriver or paint. They do also require adult assistance and supervision.

While Home Depot does not say how you can get the kits to take home, it appears you can grab one by heading to the customer service desk — however, this may vary by store. They do list the projects on their website. In April, kids built a recycling truck for Earth Day, while in May they created a mirrored vanity. June’s project is a tool bench.

As of now, Home Depot does not list projects past June, but keep your eye out in case they add more.

We reached out to Home Depot to confirm if the kits are at all locations or only select stores but have not heard back. So, you might want to call your local Home Depot to see if they have any kits before heading out.

Some parents have taken to Instagram to show off the at-home projects, like @2kristinah, who showed a step-by-step of her son making the recycling truck.

If you happen to live in the Charlotte, Nashville or Seattle areas, Lowe’s is also offering take-home kits after canceling their DIY Kids’ Workshops. Their last scheduled event was for a tabletop basketball kit in March, but according to their website, you can grab one for pick-up at your local store while supplies last. However, the kits are not yet available nationwide.

Instagrammer @mombieonabudget shared a photo of the completed tabletop basketball kit, thanking Lowe’s for providing the supplies to do the project at home.

Have you been enjoying some other DIY projects at home with your children lately?
