From the “Grinch” to “The Cat in the Hat,” “Horton,” “The Lorax” and more, there’s no denying just how popular Dr. Seuss has become.
Although many of his books were written decades ago, they continue to be loved by generation after generation and some have even been turned into movies. And, as far as I’m concerned, it’s not even really Christmas unless the “Grinch” is involved.
The man behind the pen name Dr. Seuss, Theodor Seuss Geisel, passed away in 1991, but fans continue to celebrate his birthday on March 2 every year. From eating eggs dyed with green food coloring and mixed with ham in honor of his book “Green Eggs and Ham” (a beloved memory from my childhood!), to crafts or simply reading his stories, there are a lot of ways to celebrate.
This year, Target is getting in on the fun with a free read-along event. From 10-11:30 a.m. on March 2, just head to a participating Target store and your child can hear readings of “What Pet Should I Get” at the top of every half hour, plus giveaways, activities and more.
