A company will pay you $1,300 to watch 13 Stephen King movies before Halloween

If your favorite part about Halloween is watching scary movies (or you just really love Stephen King), there’s a chance you could get paid for your love of spooky stuff this fall.

USdish.com, an authorized Dish Network reseller, is looking for someone willing to watch 13 movies based on King’s novels before Halloween and will give them $1,300 for the effort. With “IT Chapter Two” out now and “The Shining” sequel “Doctor Sleep” hitting theaters soon,  the company wants someone to watch the films in celebration of the returns of Pennywise and Danny Torrance.

Aside from grabbing a bucket of popcorn, turning off the lights and cuddling under a blanket, you’ll just have to tell USdish.com how your movie-viewing experience was.

“You will track your heart rate and jump scares. You’ll let us know who joined in on the scares with you. You’ll let us know what you thought before watching certain movies, and if your feelings changed after you completed them. You’ll even log your sleep — if you can sleep,” the announcement reads. “We want to know all this and more! We’ll provide a worksheet to help guide you along the way, but you’re not limited to what we give you — feel free to share your thoughts, like a journal, and give us all the frightening deets!”

Think you’re right for the job? The ideal candidate has to be detail-oriented enough to track their experience, so you should be a good note-taker. You do not need a degree, but you must be 18 years or older. It’s great if you’re a horror buff, but also fine if you’re a scaredy-cat. And if you plan to share your scares over social media or via vlog, that works for USdish.com as well.

To apply, just tell USdish.com why you’d be perfect for the gig and what you hope to gain from the experience (aside from the cash prize, of course).

Does “IT Chapter Two,” as promoted on @itmovieofficial, look like scary fun to you? Then you might want to apply!

Although there are dozens of King’s books that have been adapted to films, the company narrowed it down to these 13 movies:

  • “Carrie” (original or 2013 remake)
  • “Children of the Corn”
  • “Christine”
  • “Creepshow”
  • “Cujo”
  • “Dreamcatcher”
  • “It” (original or 2017 remake)
  • “The Mist”
  • “Pet Sematary” (original or 2019 remake)
  • “Salem’s Lot”
  • “The Shining”
  • “Thinner”
  • “Misery”

USdish.com will provide the movies, so you do not need to go rent them or find them streaming somewhere. They’ll also provide a worksheet to help guide you along the way, but you’re welcome to share your own thoughts outside of what’s on the guide.

You’ll also get a survival kit with a flashlight, blanket, popcorn, candy and some King paraphernalia, plus a Fitbit to help track your heart rate. As a bonus, you’ll even get a movie theater gift card to go see either “IT Chapter Two” or “Doctor Sleep,” along with the $1,300.

The number 13 has never been so lucky!  You have until Oct. 15 to tell USdish.com why you should get the job. Will you be applying?
