These popular face masks are being recalled after people complained of burns

After multiple complaints of skin irritation on social media, beauty brand Yes To is recalling one of their popular sheet masks and pulling it from store shelves.

The mask in question, their Grapefruit Vitamin C Glow-Boosting Unicorn Paper Mask, is said to be leaving users with sunburn-like redness and burning.

“In light of reports that our Grapefruit Vitamin C Glow-Boosting Unicorn Paper Mask has resulted in skin irritation for some consumers, Yes To has decided to remove this particular product from store shelves while we investigate,” the brand wrote in a statement on its official Twitter account on Jan. 4. “At Yes To, the safety and satisfaction of our customers are our main concerns. We value you and apologize to anyone who was affected in this way, especially over the holiday season.”

The recall comes after what appears to be months of complaints, with a Target customer leaving a negative review of the product on the store’s Facebook page back in November and another user taking to Twitter to complain on Jan. 5, just one day after Yes To issued their statement.

Twitter user @marlagooding posted photos of her face looking red after using the mask and another photo with her face covered in cucumbers in hopes of reversing the effects.

The mother of an 11-year-old girl who used the mask and had a reaction told “Today” that she thought her daughter was allergic, but quickly realized it looked like more than just an allergy. “The burn reaction was an outline of the whole mask,” mom Leisa Covelli of Maitland, Florida, told “Today.” “It was crazy, like you can see where she pressed on it into her face.”

Some customers have also gone to their local news stations to complain, like Anna Weitzman, who told ABC7 in San Francisco that the burning was so extreme she thought she would develop blisters.

“And when I saw the severe redness on my face where there was a perfect burn line where the mask had been sitting, that’s when I knew something was wrong,” she said.

Yes To

If you have this mask but haven’t used it yet, either throw it away or return it to the store where it was purchased.

Yes To told People that customers who have used the mask should contact them directly at customercare@yesto.com or by phone at 888-929-3786 for a refund.
