Easter is just around the corner, so it’s time to start putting together Easter baskets for the kids! Of course, you’ll include the old standbys of plenty of chocolate bunnies, Cadbury Creme eggs, Peeps and other seasonal holiday candies. But it’s nice to put in a little something extra as well.
Growing up, my Easter basket always contained something fun for the spring and summer seasons ahead: an outdoor toy, a new bathing suit or a sundress. It was always exciting to look forward to a warm-weather related surprise waiting for me on Easter morning, even if it was still freezing outside.
Here are four suggestions to create awesome Easter basket gifts for all age groups.
For Preschoolers: Baby Shark
The “Baby Shark” craze is still going strong, so your little ones are sure to light up when they get a plush shark toy in their Easter baskets. Note that these are song dolls, so be prepared to have that refrain in your head all day long.
For Elementary School Kids (Ages 6-10): Nerf Guns
Nerf Guns are classic toys that never get old. I had one as a kid, and my nieces and nephews still love them today. With warm weather finally arriving (although some areas are experiencing certain delays!), Nerf Guns are a great way to get kids out of the house and running around.
For Tweens: Headphones
Kids on the cusp of their teens are just starting to get into music. To enhance their experience rocking out to their favorite artist (that you’ve likely never heard of), give them some top-of-the-line headphones. Whether you go wireless, over-ear or earbud style, your emerging teens won’t be disappointed with the opportunity to blast their tunes without your repeated requests to turn down that infernal noise.
For High Schoolers: Karaoke Machine
You’re never too old for an Easter basket! Even if your kids will be off to college soon, it’s still fun for them to get something from the Easter Bunny. A karaoke machine will provide hours of entertainment for teens and their friends. Just remember, you might want to set it up in the basement or garage to protect your ears from anyone who might need singing lessons.
For All Ages: Tablet
Whether your toddler uses it to watch the aforementioned “Baby Shark” video for the zillionth time, or older kids use it to play games or watch Netflix, a tablet can be a fabulous gift for kids (and adults!) of all ages. And for yourself, too, since you get a break while your offspring are engaged with their new device.
