If you’re a Target shopper but haven’t signed up for their REDcard credit card yet (and want to), now is definitely the time.
Now through April 20, the retailer is offering a coupon for $50 off a $150 or more qualifying purchase when you apply for the credit card or debit card by mail or online.
If you’re approved, the coupon will be mailed to you along with your new REDcard. You’ll be able to use the coupon on eligible items through May 25. There are exclusions, so be sure to read the fine print if you had something specific in mind for your coupon.
If you don’t want a credit card, you can sign up for the debit card instead and receive the same perks, but no annual fee or credit check. Because the debit card is tied to your checking account, you can also use it to withdraw up to $40 cash when you check out at your local Target.
Aside from the coupon, there are numerous perks to having a Target REDcard, like free two-day shipping on most items with no minimum purchase, extended returns and saving an extra 5 percent every time you pay with the card, with some exclusions like prescriptions and some gift cards. You’ll also get 5 percent savings on specialty gift cards for travel, restaurants, movie tickets and more.
Cardholders also get early access to special events, products and promotions, a 10 percent off coupon on your REDcard anniversary, save 5 percent when you use your card at any in-store Starbucks location, and if you have a baby, 15 percent off and free shipping on select diapers, wipes and formula subscriptions.
While the $50 off coupon works on a combined total of $150 or more, it would also be a great time to splurge on a more expensive item you’ve been waiting to buy. Perhaps a new patio set for the summer, or some furniture from Target’s new travel-inspired collection?
