As the fastest growing beauty retailer, it’s a one-stop shop for everything beauty related. You have to be careful, though. Anyone who has ever stepped foot in this magical makeup store knows how easy it can be to get carried away and rack up a hefty bill at the register.

The good news is that you do not have to give up your mascara habit to cut back on your beauty budget. When you know the best ULTA shopping tips, you can have your cake powder and wear it, too.

1. Reach Platinum Status

When you sign up for the free Ultamate Rewards program at ULTA, you can become a Platinum member by spending $400 in a calendar year. Then, the following year, you’ll get loads of perks, such as extra reward points when you shop, freebies, coupons and gifts with purchases that regular members miss out on.

2. Have A Happy Birthday

Provided you are an Ultamate Rewards member and have made at least one purchase in the past year, ULTA will email you a coupon for a free birthday gift. You have 30 days to redeem your freebie, and they change the gift every quarter, so it’s always a pleasant surprise. If you’re a Platinum member, you get a $10 coupon in addition to the gift.

3. Watch For Point Multipliers

Typically, you earn one point for every dollar you spend as an Ultamate Rewards member (Platinum members earn 1.25 points for each buck spent). You can redeem your points for savings and freebies. ULTA frequently offers bonus points in promotional emails, on specific brands or items and even on your birthday, making it a great time to stock up and score.

4. Snag Salon Points

You need your hair, nails and brows done anyway, so why not get your glam on at the in-store salon? You’ll reach Platinum more quickly, and earn points at the same time on services you already require.

5. Connect On Social Media

Connect with ULTA on Facebook, Twitter and all of your favorite social media platforms to learn about new products, upcoming sales and cool tutorials. In addition, you can also be the first to find out about special limited-time offers, discount codes and freebies.

6. Stack Up To Rack Up (Savings)

Not only does ULTA send out store coupons to Ultamate Rewards members (you can typically grab a $3.50 off $15 coupon from the website or the ULTA mobile app), but they also accept manufacturer coupons. Save a ton by stacking store and manufacturer coupons, and then save even more by using your favorite rebate apps, such as Ibotta.

7. Make Platinum Member Appreciation Day

One day each year (typically near the end of August) Ulta has a special event. Platinum members earn 10x the points for one day only on select merchandise and 5x the points on everything else. If you shop online, they will even throw in free shipping.

Sign up for text alerts by texting ULTA to 95637. This SMS subscription lets you get the scoop on the latest news and special promotions both online and in stores.
