What experts liked

Strong versus and online modes
- Trusted Reviews
The gameplay is still fast and furious, with defensive abilities being just as important as your attacking moves are. There isn’t a single moment where you can switch off mid-battle, which makes them highly intense. Anyone who’s played the base game of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 before should be prepared for the pace though.
- The X Box Hub
Plot aside, this is the DLC that showcases what the Storm series has or had in buckets, style. The opening fight scene whilst brief gets the ball rolling with Sasuke fighting Kinshiki, successfully repelling the unknown force. The game does deviate in information and context from the original movie, so not everything follows it to the book. This lets it down slightly, because the game wants to focus on Boruto.
- Game Grin
Road to Boruto expansion for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja STORM 4 offers more of the same over-the-top action, which for many players will be enough for them to part with the cash. Those like me, who don’t follow the anime but avidly play the games, will be happy to catch up with Naruto and Sasuke in their later years whilst following Boruto’s endeavours to become a real Ninja.

What experts didn't like

Utterly bewildering for non-fans.
- Trusted Reviews
Sadly, there are just too many repeat characters for my liking; do we really need that many versions of Boruto and Sarada? No, especially not when there’s no room for the villains of the piece to secure a roster slot, who I’d love to take control of.
- The X Box Hub
The main issue with the content is the use of side missions never truly hitting the highs of the main campaign and act like afterthought content to meet an expected gameplay duration.
- Game Grin
When you do inevitably get into combat, you’ll find that nothing has changed from the main game, for better or worse. It’s still the same showy but often repetitive display of prowess as you and your opponents unleash preposterous Jutsu attacks whilst making wise use of your available substitutions to avoid damage.
