What reviewers liked

It comes with disposable steel blades, so there is no need for sharpening. The blades are still reversible, giving you longer service before you need a replacement. The depth adjustment gauge allows you to set an accurate depth for your shave every time for accuracy.
This model has a granite table as well. Its non-marring surface allows the roller feed system to smoothly slide the workpiece without damaging it. And as you would already expect, it is easy to clean.
This planer is the perfect tool for a household. It has a 15.0-amp motor, which is the standard range, and it can produce up to 18,000 cuts every minute. Since this is a basic benchtop planer specifically made for DIY fanatics, we can agree that the velocity is pretty brilliant.
Makes removing and finishing wood efficiently and fast. This planer did not leave indents (snipe) at the ends of each board like some other, comparable tools. I found it to be minimal in comparison since this machine has feed tables that adjust for height. Since this planer is built to handle large pieces of wood, I felt secure in using it.

What reviewers didn't like

It has two blades only. It is limited to one speed.
Quite similar to 6552, but as you will see in a bit on the WEN 6550 planer review, 6550 is slightly less functional.
Leaves undesirable streaks.
Planer noise may be higher than other planer machines. Blades sometimes tend to nick requiring the need for replacements. Collector tends to clog if big particles get caught up in it.
