An Overview On Organization Bins
Organization bins are great for keeping houses organized and come in a dizzying array of sizes and colors. If you plan to use smaller ones in your kitchen, closets, laundry room and other indoor areas, it makes sense to choose clear ones so that you can see what is inside.
Many are OK to use in your refrigerator and freezer, too. Be careful, though, because many of them are not dishwasher safe, so you’ll have to hand-wash them.
These plastic containers do not have lids, so if you want to use them to store things like deli meats and cooked foods in your fridge or freezer, you will want to make sure that you wrap them to keep out the air. Be sure to use freezer bags when needed, as well. If you need airtight plastic containers, look for ones that have lids and secure closing mechanisms, but keep in mind, none of these guarantee that mold will not grow.
These lidless plastic containers make the most of vertical space and are often designed to stack on top of one another. They may click into place for added stability, and this is an excellent feature to seek.
It’s also vital to choose BPA-free plastics when buying these products for extra safety. Make sure they are labeled as being food-safe, as well, if you plan to use them in the kitchen.
Plastic containers like this are often sold in sets, and you can find a variety of sizes to suit your needs. Some come with all one size, others might have two or three, and some have even more. You will have to pay more for extra pieces, but this is cheaper than buying individual pieces.
The Organization Bin Buying Guide
- Don’t put plastic containers in dishwashers unless they are dishwasher-safe.
- These containers shouldn’t get all that dirty unless things get spilled on them, so the time spent washing should be minimal.
- If you plan to stack your containers, place the items you use the most often closer to the top and vice versa.
- You can also buy glass storage containers, but they are heavier and can break when dropped.
