What experts liked
The monitor also has a 144 Hz refresh rate, which means that the image is refreshed 144 times per second, only adding to the smooth picture.

The ViewSonic XG2402 has excellent motion handling. It has an impressive fast response time, and motion is crystal clear with almost no visible blur.
- RTINGS.com
ViewSonic’s XG2402 is an incredibly inexpensive way to get adaptive synchronization for your FreeSync gaming desktop.
- New York Times Wirecutter
The backlight is a white LED in a flicker-free configuration. Rather than using pulse-width modulation, the XG2401 features constant current drive at all backlight levels. Very few people actually experience flicker but this arrangement ensures that no one will.
- Tom's Hardware

It also supports 144Hz refresh rate and a response time of 1ms, alongside Black Stablization and AMD FreeSync Technology.
- Gamers Heros
The ViewSonic XG2402 1080p display is great for gamers on a tighter budget who wish to enjoy the fluid gameplay but cannot afford the more expensive 1440p displays or G-SYNC gaming monitors.

The ViewSonic XG2402 sports a 24-inch TN panel from AU Optronics with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and 1ms response time.

What experts didn't like
The monitor's built-in dual 2-watt speakers are about as good as you'd expect monitor speakers to be — not too loud, not too clear — so don't plan on using them for immersive gaming.
- Windows Central

It doesn't perform very well in a dark room, due to the disappointing native contrast and deficient black uniformity.
- RTINGS.com
The XG2402 supports the same maximum refresh rate as our primary pick—144 Hz—but a different range for FreeSync. Though its hardware synchronization works all the way up to 144 Hz, it stops working below 48 Hz; we would prefer FreeSync to kick in at a lower rate, because graphically intense games are more likely to dip below 48 frames per second than they are to run at 144 frames per second.
- New York Times Wirecutter
The 48Hz end of the XG2401's range may be a concern to those who can't maintain framerates above that consistently. But since you're only pushing 1920x1080 pixels, it won't take an expensive video card to maintain speeds north of 60fps.
- Tom's Hardware

The contrast of colors felt lacking, with the lighter contrasts feeling a little grainy and the darker contrasts feeling a little foggy.
- Gamers Heros
The ViewSonic XG2402 TN panel provides 170° horizontal and 160° vertical viewing angles, so color and contrast shifts are expected when the screen is viewed from certain angles.

The upper corners looked a bit dimmer than the center, however the difference isn’t substantial enough to ruin gaming visuals.

“Only” 144Hz, there are faster 1080p screens out there if you’re looking for that.
