Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

Very durable, withstanding drops from desk height with no problem. Braided cable to stop snarls. Visual DPI indicators are a huge help. Button presets are easy to program and perfect for games like Minecraft. Customizable lighting.
This mouse makes me feel like I’m on the top of things and of my game. When things get busy, I rarely mis-click or made a mistake on the sidepad. I must say it’s well-done in that regard. Also, for some of you wondering if the scrolling wheel is also up to par on a mouse this cheap well the answer is the absolute positive. The wheel feels great as it scrolls through its notches.
The UtechSmart Venus is not only versatile but also comfortable and suitable for long gaming sessions. Despite being designed mainly with MMO players in mind, it does a wonderful job in fast-paced first-person shooters and competitive MOBAs.
It features an incredibly responsive sensor with the maxium DPI of 16,400. I believe it will satisfy any gamer.
The durability features in place to ensure a long lifespan of the Venus.
It comes with 8 pre-installed weights (each 2.4 gram), however with all 8 weights, mouse is pretty light. A thumb rest is also there under buttons that give more symmetry and balanced aesthetics to mouse. Plus, it has colorful light display for any color of your choice.
Utechsmart venus comes with sliders that enable it to glide effortlessly on your mouse pad. Not forgetting, the mouse pad is built for durability too. You can use it for well over a year before you ever have to think about replacing it.

What reviewers didn't like

LED lighting is just so-so. Configuration software is confusing to use. Mouse buttons are too sensitive. Mouse buttons and number pad can fail after a year or so of constant use.
This is a bit bulky and lighting isn't very configurable.
Lighting isn't entirely configurable and switches are not mechanical.
The only problem is that I don’t really like the rough surface used on the exterior, they use mostly plastic which makes the product look cheap. You can see that there is no soft-touch smooth plastic like more premium mice. I guess many users won’t feel comfortable touching the pebbly texture.
Finger rest design could use a little polish to smooth out their rough edges.
Grip on skidding wheel is really textures which isn’t user-friendly and tiresome to your fingers.
If you have extremely small or large hands, this mouse might not be the best pick for you.
