From The Manufacturer

TaylorMade TP5x White Golf BallsFive-Layer Construction For Premium PerformanceTaylorMade has enjoyed its share of success in the golf ball market for the last several years, but it believes that the new TP5 and TP5x golf balls will catapult the company to new heights in that space. Highlighting the performance of both new balls is a 5-layer construction that will give players maximum spin and control around the greens but reduced spin off the tee and on iron shots for more distance thanks to the Tri-Fast Core, which delivers low spin rates and maximum energy transfer for explosive distance. When it comes to the TP5x, players can expect significantly less spin on all full shots. The TP5x also delivers higher launch and less drag from an aerodynamic standpoint. That combination is equating to between a half and a full club of added distance on iron shots, but the higher flight conditions and steeper descent angles still give players the stopping power they need to hit greens in regulation. Golfers can also expect, at 90 compression, the TP5x to feel firmer than the 83-compression TP5, and its slightly thinner cover was designed to provide players with more feedback.Features: * Compression: 87 * Five-layer construction delivers tour-proven performance from tee to green * Tri-Fast Core creates low spin and high energy transfer for maximum distance * Dual Spin cover feature soft Cast Urethane for maximum spin and control around the green * Thinner cover create a firmer feel designed to provide enhanced feedback * High launch conditions allow players to stop the ball easily on the green * Color: White * Available in 12-Ball Pack.

What reviewers liked

The TP5x has a crisper sound that’s slightly higher pitched.
Highlighting the performance of both new balls is a 5-layer construction that will give players maximum spin and control around the greens but reduced spin off the tee and on iron shots for more distance thanks to the Tri-Fast Core, which delivers low spin rates and maximum energy transfer for explosive distance.
However the 2019 TP5x can give them that extra distance from the HFM layer and the cover gives them back that extra control.
On driver shots the TP5x has lower spin helping it get more roll. I also loved the launch angle of this golf ball. I typically struggle to get height on my drives and I felt like the TP5X was achieving higher ball flights than I normally hit, helping me get more total distance on my drives.
While both golf balls are designed for distance, the TP5x was a bit longer for me with a higher ball flight off the tee.
Excellent distance, spin and control.
Over the past few years I have gamed TP5x golf balls on many occasions, it is one of my favorites.
Off the driver and long irons, they are explosive with the TP5x flying higher than the TP5.
Even the high trajectory of the TP5x held better in the wind than I expected, due to the lower spin rates.
The balls have great feel, that softer sound we really like and performance that fits our game perfectly.
Great distance all around matched with superior spin and feel.
The TP5X is designed to go high and far with little drag and a steep descent angle. Including an ultra soft core, this ball is designed for experienced golfers with a quick swing and good ball control.
The TaylorMade TP5x Golf Ball is a Tour ball which provides excellent all-around performance from tee to green. This ball has higher compression and a higher launch along with a piercing flight for great performance in windy conditions.
With impressive speed and distance, the TaylorMade TP5x Golf Balls offer an interesting experience with the 5-layer design.
One final positive of the new TP5X is that it seems to resist scuffing and abrasion better then the previous generation.
The TP5X’s firmer cover allows for more speed, a higher trajectory and less spin. You’ll get a much more powerful trajectory and more distance.

What reviewers didn't like

Speaking to better players that have used it, the previous TP5x would occasionally lack enough spin for control on longer approaches so they would switch to TP5.
TP5X golf ball has a slightly stiffer cast urethane cover.
My only gripe with it has been the feel with the putter.
But like all pro balls in recent years spinning them back is a little harder.
Not as easy to find in the desert as a ProV1
Although the balls can be used by players at all levels, amateurs will struggle to get the most out of the design which is made for performance maximization.
I find the ball to be a bit harder feeling then the previous years TP5X, but only marginally.
TP5X is the softness of the exterior.
