Expert Reviews

What experts liked

The official headset of the PS4 works perfectly with PlayStation VR, delivers top-tier 7.1 surround sound, sports noise-cancelling features and ergonomic design, and is available in black or white.
This headset is wireless and has exclusive integration with the PS4, including on-screen battery life and mute indicators, custom equalizer options, and Sony’s proprietary virtual surround sound.
This is one of the clearest wireless headsets I’ve used, and the bass is quite boomy.

The Sony PlayStation Gold Wireless Headset is a solid and affordable accessory that makes some concessions in comfort for its $100 price.

What experts didn't like

You must download the PlayStation Headset Companion app to toggle between game genre preset sound modes.
the mic is thin and faraway sounding
No boom mic. 7 hour battery life could be better. Controls have a learning curve. Hard to read L and R labels. Not great for extra wide heads, big ears, or glasses.
- Wired
The headset is reasonably comfortable, but the light padding of the circular earcups can feel a bit cramped for larger ears.
