The knife slots are designed to be easier for handling and they have become larger to accommodate larger knives. All of the knife slots are designed to be made wider and to fit different blade sizes. They can make knives storage stress-free so you no longer need to fumble around cooking.
- Cookware Junkies
If you have some extra counter space than I personally suggest that you store your knives in this knife block. Other than the function that it has, it also has a great design and it can easily fit with the rest of your kitchen gadgets.
- Kitchen Byte
Holds a good number of both small and large knives. Enough room to fit 8 steak knives. The block also has a spot for a pair of kitchen scissors. Angled slots so knives glide in easily. Slots are also deep enough to accomodate most knives.
- BestReviews
All of the slots on this knife block are wide, which allow you to fit blades of various sized and types into them. The non skid rubber feet keep will keep your countertop from being scratched and damaged by this knife block, and will also ensure that your knife block doesn’t move about when you are pulling out or putting one in.
- The Lively Kitchen
The block itself has non-skid feet that keep it right where you want it on the countertop and the slots are all different sizes so you can easily put anything from simple steak knives (several of them) to larger chef’s knives and even meat cleavers into the block. There’s plenty of space for everything and you’ll be able to easily get those knives out of your drawers where they’re taking up way too much space.
- Mom Dot
The knife block holds up to 19 knives with an extra slot for scissor or sharpening tool. The horizontal slots easily fit both smaller steak knives to large chef knives. These slots allow you to easily handle and accommodate larger size knives. Moreover, the wider opening slots help you easy to store different sizes of knives in your kitchen.
- Technetro
The very fact that all the slots are horizontal ensures that your knife blades will stay protected and sharp and this is the second basic consideration that we focused on after the quality to fit in various knives. Also, this knife block is made with bamboo and wooden core which is a mark of the durability and finesse.
- Village Bakery
One excellent feature about this is the larger knife slots for easy cleaning and to for even more blade sizes. It can fit up to 19 knives, including a slot for scissors and a sharpening rod. It's a plus point for storage and organization.
- Under Roofs

What experts didn't like

Some slots are much longer. Bamboo veneer is not finished smoothly.
- Cookware Junkies
It takes too much counter space. Spacing between slots is too close so when you fill every slot it doesn't look very presentable and you have trouble with finding knives.
- Kitchen Byte
Not enough space for storing many thinner knives since a lot of slots are fairly wide.

An Overview On Knife Blocks

When it comes to kitchen accessories, a knife block is a must. Not only does this handy invention provide a way to quickly access the knife you need when preparing a dish for your family, but it also protects the blades of your knives. If you’re in the market for a knife block, consider the following features before you make a final decision.

Take a look at your counter space first. If you don’t have a spot to dedicate to a knife block, go with a model like the Bellemain Bamboo In-Drawer Knife Block, 16-Slot that can be neatly stored in a kitchen drawer. This is also a great option if you have small children in the home, as the drawer keeps the knives out of sight and the block keeps all the knives’ sharp edges covered up.

Next, you’ll want to consider the number of knives you have to store. There are models that hold just a few knives, as well as models that hold an entire collection including everything from steak knives to a pair of scissors.

Check the material used to make the knife block. Some models are made from eco-friendly bamboo. Bamboo is also known for being extremely sturdy and durable. Some models are also made from stainless steel and food-grade safe plastic.

You can also opt for a less traditional knife block and go with one that is magnetic. These knife blocks are free of slots and able to hold knives of all different shapes and sizes.

The Knife Block Buying Guide

  • While most knife blocks can be hand-washed with a little dish soap, warm water and a washcloth, you’ll want to double-check the product label for any special cleaning instructions.
  • Check the size of your scissor’s handles. Some reviewers comment that large handles cover up the knife slots on either side of the scissors slot, making them unusable.
  • Always dry your knife blocks thoroughly after you clean them and never place a wet knife into the block’s slot. This can cause cracks to occur in the wood.
  • Lightweight knife blocks can tip over easily when heavy knives are added to them.
  • Bamboo knife blocks can be rubbed with oil on occasion. This helps to extend the life of the block, which means you won’t have to spend money to replace it prematurely.
  • There isn’t too much variation in price among knife blocks. You can expect to pay a little more for a block that has a larger number of slots. Magnetic blocks also tend to cost a few dollars more than traditional wooden knife blocks, but other than that, you’ll find this kitchen accessory is quite affordable.
