Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

Its smart elliptical design means smooth swaths of hair with minimal tugging, and the combination of nylon pin bristles detangle while tufted bristles smooth. Since the 1.8-pound dryer combines both a brush and a dryer in one package, that means you can go more than five minutes of styling without tapping out due to tired arms and/or a sweaty neck.
It's great investment. In the months that I have been using it, I haven’t been disappointed. You know how when you go to the salon, and the stylist gives you a blowout using a round brush and a hairdryer? If you have ever tried to replicate the process at home, you already know that it's nearly impossible. Well, this tool is basically the same idea, but it makes it humanly possible to do it without the help of a professional. It's actually pretty foolproof, to be quite honest.
On first try, I couldn't believe how quickly the Revlon Volumizer dried my hair: literally six minutes. The reason the dryer is so quick, according to the brand, is because it's designed to distribute air quickly and evenly to the hair, while also utilizing ionic technology for a shinier, smoother blowout—which was 100 percent the case when I tested (and retested) the dryer myself. What’s more, the mixed nylon pin and boar bristles help grip hair for improved volume and control.
It saves time and effort during your styling routine. It has a combination of bristles that are specifically designed to create smooth styles and reduce tangles.
The brush is four inches wide from the top of the bristles to the bottom and is two inches in diameter, so you’ll be able to use this on your long and thick hair with as much ease as your shorter or thinner hair.

The oval design helps with making the hair smooth.
The best part: There is no need to touch up your strands with a flat iron (like I would normally have to do to tame my frizzy locks post blow dry).
With the Revlon One Step, I’m able to skip the straightening step because it gives me a perfect straight blow out every time. No flat ironing needed!
One of the practical things that I love about the miracle brush is that it has eliminated half of the clutter on my vanity top. Instead of getting out a blow dryer AND a straightener AND a brush – I use one tool.
Every time I've used it, my hair has come out smoother, and dare I say shinier, than it has been with a regular brush and dryer.
I used the Revlon One Step Hair Dryer and I was amazed! It only took 15 minutes to go from a wavy mess to a smooth blowout.
The unique oval-shape makes it part paddle brush, part round brush. I can blow my main hair shafts straight and achieve curled ends. I found zero issues rotating the brush from end to root, and creating a lot of volume. The brush head is an adequate size and shape to get in between layers of hair and dry at the roots completely. The mix of nylon pin bristles and tufted boar bristles means it detangles hair and smooths to a shine.
The large oval brush has boar type bristles, which I found to help grab my hair and tame frizz. The large oval brush makes it easy to add volume and speeds up drying time because it comes in contact with a lot of hair at a time.
I loved that it has combination bristles. If you look closely, you can see the plastic-tipped bristles with more coarse bristles in between. Those coarse bristles helped grab and hold my hair like a regular round brush would.
The edges of the brush are thinner than the front and back because it allows you to get in close to the scalp and curve the brush to create volume. When you can lift and curl close to the scalp, you’ll create a voluminous look that does make it seem that you had a blow-out done in a salon.
1100-Watt power provides just the right heat. Unlike conventional hair dryers, this volumizer can be placed closer to the scalp for lift.

What reviewers didn't like

The one downside: its heat settings. The brush comes with two predetermined settings, low and high, which means high speed/high heat, or low speed/low heat. The high setting is powerful and quite hot, so "it may be a little harsh on shorter hairstyles, where the tool will be lingering closer to the scalp," warns Wizemann.
The only caveat is the barebones design, meaning a lack of specific temperature settings and just two speed settings, rolled into one. There are settings for High and Low and a cool shot to seal in the style, but there is no specificity for what the actual temperatures are. As someone with fine hair, this isn't ideal since I generally like to keep my heat tools between 300-325ºF.
Not dual voltage and not designed to be used with a voltage converter.
The handle is thick so it could be hard to hold for people with smaller hands.
It feels slightly bulky in my hand. The motor for the dryer is housed in the handle. It's the only place for it and considering the drying power, the slight bulk is a minor trade-off.
There’s no way to remove the brush.
