Expert Reviews

What experts liked

One farmer with a significant collection of free range poultry, writes that he loves his predator guard because of its large solar panel which means that it charges in less time, an on off switch which enables him to store the unit and keep a solar-powered charge, its internal magnet for easy surface installations, the enlarged screw hole for slip-on hanging, and it's large and intimidating 'eyes'.
The Predator Guard unit itself is a well-designed sleek black box housing all of the lighting components. This allows only the “eyes” or lights to appear in the dark of night. The Guard’s light weight makes mounting easy with a simple screw or even using its internal magnet to allow it to ‘clamp’ against a metal shed or out building.
It is backed by a three years refund, replacement and maintenance warranty.
Device charges itself via solar panel during the day and automatically turns on at night. Two powerful LEDs are visible for up to 1/2 mile, discouraging deer. Random flashing pattern keeps most deer from becoming accustomed to the device. Operates in any weather.
This device emits a powerful flash of light via twin red LED lights that animals think are the eyes of the predators.
The deterrent works by utilizing a system of flashing light patterns to ward off opossums that may want to create a den in your yard. Opossums are naturally shy animals, and will more often than not give in to their passive nature if presented with a hostile environment.
Solar panel design optimizes its recharging capacity
This is the only visual scare gadget with two lights, and they’re spaced appropriately enough to be convincing… to some mammals.
It’s powered by a solar panel on the top of the device that automatically charges during the day and switches the light on at nightfall – and turns it back off at sunrise.
The Predator Guard has a three-year warranty
You will experience excellent results if you place the Predatorguard strategically at about 8 feet off the ground. You can mount it on a fence, a post or the wall of the chicken coop. Better still to have about four of them in different locations facing different directions.

What experts didn't like

Some users wish it was motion activated
The only concern is that the product works in a singular direction and it may require multiple units to establish a robust perimeter.
Mileage may vary; some deer learn to ignore the device, and if the animals are especially hungry, they're likely to visit your garden regardless of deterrent.
Some animals may get used to the light
Unfortunately, some deer don’t understand those blinking lights should bother them. Many aren’t scared at all.
One suggestion some users have voiced for this light would be a motion detector; instead of a steady, blinking pattern or random flashing, a motion detector to trigger it when animals get close could make it much more effective.
Must be at eye-level of the animal you are trying to deter
Solar powered which is limited to sunshine
