Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

A mid-level headset that pairs easily to other devices and earns praise for its clear sound and noise cancelling capabilities. Casing is moisture resistant.
My test calls backed up this claim with the Plantronics Voyager Legend turning in excellent call quality whether I was chatting from bustling New York streets, within crowded restaurants, or inside my raucous CNET offices.

An extra microphone has been added to the array in the microphone arm to further increase voice quality, as well as eliminate background noise. The noise cancelling was already impressive, but the extra mic does well at keeping the speaker's voice clear even in very noisy environments.
We tested the Plantronics Voyager Legend for several days in different environments to get a sense for how well its microphone and speaker perform, and at the end, we were quite impressed.
Impressive connectivity and sensor functionality, alongside really crisp call clarity.
The call quality was impressive. The audio Digital Signal Processing (DSP) worked well cancelling out most background sounds.
Plantronics also makes available Spokes, a free PC download that makes controlling calls from multiple sources easier. It installs a battery meter for the Voyager Legend UC in your PC's icon tray, and updates your UC presence status whether you're on a mobile call or a PC call—useful stuff to have on your PC.
Phone calls sound excellent through the earpiece. Outgoing audio is crystal clear thanks to noise-canceling powered by three separate mics.

The battery life is very impressive and one the biggest reasons to get this headset. One area where it shines even more is audio quality.
The best thing about this headset is its Smart Sensor Tech. It instinctively routes calls to the headset, allowing you to answer immediately, by just putting it on the ear.

What reviewers didn't like

Battery life starts out good, but decreases significantly with typical use. Fit is somewhat tight. Voice recognition is difficult to set up.
The Plantronics Voyager Legend's big boom mic arm isn't compact. Its ear tips don't form a tight audio seal.
-
It might be a bit on the large size,
Its voice command button is tiny and hard to find.
The boom mic itself measures just under 3 inches from the ear piece, and that bulky behind-the-ear component is about 2-inches long and .5-inches thick.
The only drawback to using this headset is that the charging cable is quite short (nine inches long) and if you should lose it, you will not be able to use any of your extra micro USB charging cables.
Expensive. Headset is larger than your typical model.
Charging case/stand sold separately
- Heavy
Our only gripe is the small call/end call button which isn’t placed very conveniently.
Most users are in agreement that the biggest downside to this product is its size and weight. It is one of the biggest Bluetooth models available.
