Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

With a minimalist, square design, the Boxelite is the lamp we’d like to put on our own desks. It has a large light face, which provides 10,000 lux of UV-free light at 14 inches (a farther distance than both our top pick and runner-up). The Boxelite also has a warmer color temperature (3,500 Kelvin) than our other picks, which may better suit your taste.
The Northern Light Technology Boxelite offers the best of two worlds with a sleek design that won't protrude too far onto your desk area, and an extra large face that ensures you'll be covered with soothing light. Plus, it doesn't make an annoying humming noise.
Where the Boxelite stands out is that the 10,000 lux output has a generous effective range of 17 inches, a real benefit over most light boxes in the same general price range which only provide full benefit at 12 inches.
It allows you to sit in any position you like and make use of a source of light which is very good and very bright. So that all that you are doing whether it is working on your computer, preparing dinner or even searching for something in the cellar or pantry, can be done with a very good and portable light source.
On the plus side this lamp is made from very durable materials. The casing is metal and there’s a long power cable which is very convenient.

What reviewers didn't like

But the Boxelite isn’t adjustable, unlike the Day-Light Classic Plus and the HappyLight, and it doesn’t have the endorsement that our main pick does.
This model isn’t built in the shape of a transportable suitcase. It’s more of a standalone unit, sized 15 x 12 inches with a desk stand like our #1 and #3 choices, and it’s not adjustable.
This product is electronically powered which means you need to connect it to a power source for it to function. This might also be seen as a disadvantage because it would have been wonderful for it to be perhaps solar powered.
Its more expensive than the other lamps and not adjustable.
