From The Manufacturer

How It’s Made: Naturals Bakeware Our Naturals bakeware starts out as a solid coil of aluminum, weighing several thousand pounds. The coil is fed into a press, which first performs a ‘blanking’ operation to cut out the rough shape of the pan. Next, it is roughly formed to resemble the shape of the finished pan. Finally, a galvanized steel rim, which gives rigidity to the pan, is added, and the edges of the pan are curled around the steel rim to encapsulate it fully. Our galvanized steel rims are formed on-site at Nordic Ware too; they begin as long metal rod and go through a series of bending maneuvers to be properly sized for each pan. After all of the metalworking is complete, the pan is sent to be washed and packed. One of the great aspects of manufacturing with pure aluminum is that it is highly recyclable, so any scrap metal that is produced during our production process can be re-melted down and used again. Our Story Nordic Ware was founded in 1946 by a determined wife, Dotty, and her resourceful husband Dave, newly back from the second world war. With only $500 in their pockets, a few good ideas and a desire to create a business of their own, a humble kitchenware company was launched from the basement of their home in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In the beginning, Nordic Ware’s product line was only a handful of items, all of which were specialty Scandinavian ethnic cookware products. But times have changed! 70 years later with a good measure of perseverance added, Nordic Ware is still proudly manufacturing the vast majority of its products in Minneapolis. We’re proud to say that we’re still family-owned and operated, with three generations involved in our business, and each year we add innovative items to our expansive kitchenware line. 70 Years of Innovation With wife Dotty at his side, Dave Dalquist returned from WWII to start a business. From humble beginnings in a basement, Nordic Ware has become an internationally distributed kitchenware brand with a variety of product lines, hundreds of products and millions of fans! Still a family owned and operated in the US, the company is honored to occupy a place in the new Food History exhibit at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. Last fall, Nordic Ware was chosen for the prestigious 2015 Minnesota Manufacturing Award for Sustainability, which firms we work hard to minimize our environmental footprint. Our company moves into 2016 poised for the future, with last year setting an all-time record in sales volume and production efficiency.

Pure aluminum commercial bakeware. Doesn't rust. Bakes evenly due to superior heat conductivity. Reinforced, encapsulated steel rim to prevent warping. Corners have tooling marks that are part of the production process. Hand-wash only. Do not warp under broiler. Great for sheet cakes.

For the amount of use you’ll get from them, sheet pans are a steal. This two pack from Nordic Ware, meets all my requirements: light colored finish, commercial grade aluminum and reinforced steel rim to prevent warping. It costs about $25 and will halve your time for big batches.
- Good Housekeeping
After years of heavy use at home and in our test kitchen, we’ve found it still lies flat and bakes cookies to an even golden brown. Some aluminum sheet pans may perform on a par with it, but the Nordic Ware consistently costs the least for a pan of its quality. It’s a durable workhorse of a pan that can handle a wide variety of tasks, from roasting crisp oven fries to cooking a quick sheet pan dinner.
- New York Times Wirecutter
Due to their rimmed design, these sheets are the epitome of versatility. And when it comes to cookies, in particular, they were uniformly baked, batch after batch. Thanks to the light-colored sheets, they browned just right – not too dark, and not too pale.

An Overview On Non Stick Bakeware Sets

Every kitchen needs a few basic items, whether you cook often or only occasionally. A good nonstick bakeware set will give you everything you need to make biscuits, cookies, vegetables and a host of other items. But there are a few things to consider as you start shopping around for bakeware.

Sure, you can pick up a bakeware set at the grocery store, but there are some extras that you’ll get if you spend a little more. Several of those extras contribute to the way your foods turn out when you pull them out of the oven. With the right design, your baking sheets and muffin tins will promote even cooking to avoid that underdone center with burned edges that we’ve all experienced at one time or another.

Another thing you’ll find with cheaper bakeware sets is that they easily rust. This is especially true if you toss them in the dishwasher after each use. Exposure to higher temperatures can also cause less well-built cookware to warp. Sure, you can buy a new set every few months when the old one wears out, but you may find it’s worth the investment to buy a cookware set that you can use for many years.

The Non Stick Bakeware Set Buying Guide

  • Nonstick coatings have become increasingly popular in recent years but leave the cooking spray in the cabinet. Cooking sprays may be great for reducing sticking on traditional pans, but they can damage the nonstick coating on the cookware that is so popular today.
  • Usually, bakeware is sold in sets, so you won’t be buying a solo baking sheet or bread pan. You may just need two or three baking sheets, at which point you can save money by limiting your search to those items. But you can also find sets that include everything you need to stock your kitchen. Items like muffin pans, cooling trays, bread pans and roasting pans will open up your cooking options.
  • The design of the pad makes a big difference in how your concoctions turn out. The type of steel used can promote evenness during cooking. Some bakeware even includes an inner core geared toward ensuring heat is distributed evenly.
  • Technically, most bakeware is dishwasher safe, which means it can withstand the high temperatures. However, the nonstick coating is somewhat sensitive on many pots, pans, and baking sheets. The prolonged exposure to moisture, along with chemicals in many detergents, can break down the coating. You’re always better off washing your cookware by hand if you can.
