Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

The XR700 uses the same excellent web-based interactive management system as the NightHawk XR500 . Powered by Netduma's DumaOS, it lets you monitor network activity, configure network settings, allocate bandwidth, optimize your network for gaming, and more.
With a low-latency design and the ability to blast out high-speed data over 802.11ac and 802.11ad networks, the Netgear Nighthawk XR700 Pro Gaming Router is the one to get for those who battle in medieval villages, fly through space or want to win the World Cup.
This is the best gaming router currently on the market, combining class-leading WiFi performance with the feature-rich DumaOS gaming-focused management software.
The Netgear Nighthawk XR700 is the mother of wireless gaming routers, a features and performance monster and also easy to use.

What reviewers didn't like

It doesn't offer the anti-malware and rich parental controls that you get with other high-end gaming routers.
The Nighthawk XR700's biggest flaw is the high-flying price tag. The XR700 has lower performance at some ranges, and a heavy reliance on 802.11ad. Finally, it falls short of the extreme performance you can get from the more conventional and less expensive TP-Link Archer C5400X.
10Gbit port requires expensive SFP+ adapter to be useful. Very expensive.
Both the router itself and its price tag are rather oversized.
