Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

A popular choice for Nespresso Vertuo owners, as this 30-count pack includes 3 coffee varieties – Stormio, Odacio, and Melozio – that range in strength from strong to medium roasts. A good choice for trying an assortment of the brand's popular coffees.
It is important to note that the Vertuo line includes both espresso brewing and regular coffee brewing capabilities, which is relatively unexplored, innovative territory in the capsule brewing world.

Nespresso-branded Vertuo pods come in five sizes of varying levels of intensity and flavors. This is a good thing. The different pod sizes mean that while the machine is using the same amount of water for each pod, the different pod sizes determine the intensity of flavor.

If you’re not sure what you fancy and want a bumper pack in the pantry, opting for this variety pack is a smart move.
Nespresso VertuoLine machines use codes on the capsules, and each comes with a different amount of beans, ground at various levels of coarseness or fineness.
Each pod is bar-coded for use in their 2nd generation machine, which automatically adjusts its brewing parameters depending on the blend to produce a perfect cup.
One pod is capable of brewing 7.8-OZ of a coffee drink and it is best for a stronger drinking experience.
Speaking of the pods, they’re in their own right worthy of mentioning as they’re incredibly well designed. A bundle of them looks so gorgeous in the kitchen that I’ve never felt the need to hide them away like I did with the K-Cups of the past.
I feel that the main benefit of Vertuoline is the extra crema. If you like a really creamy, frothy espresso, then sure, the Vertuoline pods are a good choice.
The pack includes 10 capsules of each variety, for a total of 30 capsules, so you’ll have enough for about a month of coffee.
Each size has it’s own line of pods bar coded to brew that beverage to Nespresso’s specifications, giving you consistent quality and taste every time you want it.
Nespresso have designed a unique barcode system using the outside rim of their VertuoLine coffee pods. There is a barcode included with each capsule that tells the machine how large the coffee is going to be (from Espresso to Alto), which means the correct amount of water gets added.
Each of the options will provide you with thick and tasty crema, so that your coffee will be not only tastier but also much more beautiful.

What reviewers didn't like

Some boxes arrived containing capsules that were dented and damaged. Melozio may be too mild for those who prefer strong coffee.
First, unlike the original machines, it uses only Nespresso-branded Vertuo pods. There are no third-party options–at least, no viable ones.

The lower water temperature means the espresso is a little weak.
You can’t just buy a standard type of pod and make espresso, coffee, or lungo — you have to make sure the capsule says just that on the code.
Vertuoline pods are not cheap, that's for sure!
These capsules are only compatible with Vertuoline machines and will not work with the original machines.
The draw back, the patents protecting these capsules are not expiring soon and unless Nespresso decides to license out the ability for 3rd parties to make capsules, you can only get your coffee from Nespresso.
Many people have found they prefer the OriginalLine capsules when making a coffee, especially consumers in Europe.
