Using an efficient armor cooler from MSI and featuring a stock overclock, the MSI ARMOR 8GB OC RX 580 is great for builds where you’re trying to save as much room as possible but still want excellent price-to-performance.

More MHz means more power, coming from 150W the RX 580 now hovers at a 185W TDP with its 36 CUs (compute units aka shader clusters) x 64 shader processors per CU = 2304 shader processors). The cards will be available in both 4GB and 8GB versions and has 256-bit GDDR5 memory which offers an effective 8 Gbps / GHz.

It uses just a single 8-pin PCIe power input, and its display outputs include two HDMI, two DisplayPort, and one DVI.

What experts didn't like
When it comes to this particular model, MSI didn’t seem to place much stock in the card’s outward appearance – it features a simple black and white shroud and a somewhat diminutive heatsink, exposing much of the PCB underneath, and unlike the XFX card, this one doesn’t even have a backplate.
- Gaming Scan
overall looking back this product does not warrant you to upgrade unless you are still on say an 380 or something. As always the board partners will improve on everything the reference product does half-half. As such this gaming X model has a proper cooler. Something however was off with our sample and the noise level should have been a notch lower.
