What experts liked
These adjustable headphones are extremely versatile, with wired and wireless capabilities and one-touch calling.
- BestReviews
They're above-average comfortable, they have an efficient and easy-to-use control scheme and they don't leak too much. Good battery life. The ear cups are well padded and the headband doesn't exert too much pressure on your head.
- RTINGS.com
Do a lot of things right for such a low price. You get good sound and long battery life. Battery life is possibly the second-most important feature of wireless headphones right after sound quality, and this is an area in which the 059 shine.
- Android Central
The headphones are foldable and feature a memory foam earpads for comfort. You get to enjoy 20 hours of wireless operation and even once they run out of battery, they can still run in wired mode. There’s seven different colours on offer so there’s a look for everyone. A solid budget Bluetooth headphone.
- SoundReview
They're really attractive: glossy black with red accents. The cushy earcups are great at blocking outside noise, though there's no active noise-canceling technology at work here. The headband is also padded, resulting in a reasonably comfortable overall fit.

The Mpow 059’s aren’t particularly heavy, so they don’t put a tremendous amount of pressure around your ears. The result is that your ears aren’t going to sweat, even with extended listens.
- Nerd Tech
Have a hard plastic shell on the outside of a very soft plastic inside. Everything that touches your head, ears, or skin is a soft material, while the exterior of the headphones consists of hard plastics that will stand up to bumps, bruises, and being thrown into gym bags. The headphones also have a hinge on both sides so they can collapse down taking up less room in your bag. The earcups are a soft material that honestly feels pretty decent after long (2+ hour) listening sessions. The cups are just big enough to encompass my entire earlobe which I appreciate.
- Android Guys
The design brings Beats to mind. The circumaural (over-ear) headphones fold down at hinges above the ear, the headband features a glossy coating (available in black, red, black-and-gray, or green), and the earpads and underside of the headband are generously cushioned. Are affordable and stream Bluetooth audio without issue. You also get passive listening using the included audio cable, which is a good deal for $40

Are making waves in the market on one fact alone—they don’t cost hundreds of dollars. Plenty of tech reviewers find these to be perfectly serviceable Bluetooth headphones for a stunningly low price. To a point, we agree with this sentiment. These headphones sport a beautiful build, comfortable fit, and solid connectivity. The design is one of the best reasons to buy the Mpow 059s.
- Lifewire
It provides a highly classic look due to its glossy finish and comes in many vibrant colours which give a two-tone colour scheme and are foldable, which are easy to carry.
- Audio Fanclub
Mpow’s 059 Bluetooth Headphones with HD sound and rich bass are durable and comfortable, fold up easily, and connect extremely well to all bluetooth compatible devices.
- Reviewing This
Its design is very sleek and modern, that it is pretty much on an equal footing with the looks of the leading brands. What I loved about the Mpow 059 is it is lightweight and comfortable even in hours of using. Both the earcups and the headband are padded, which usually causes your head and ears to sweat; but to my amazement, long hours of using the headphones did not give me headaches or irritation.

What experts didn't like
Passive noise isolation saves battery life, but results in muffled sound quality according to some users.
- BestReviews
They do not block enough noise for commuting, they feel a little cheap, and they're slightly too unstable for sports. They come with a carrying pouch that will shield the headphones from minor scratches but will not protect them against impacts, drops or water damage.
- RTINGS.com
Uncomfortable design and cheap materials make the headphones a tougher sell. The Mpow 059 are constructed mostly out of a very glossy plastic that instantly looks and feels cheap. Fingerprints stick on it with ease and I have a feeling it wouldn't hold up well at all in the event of a drop.
- Android Central
The comfort could use some improvement, so if you’re sensitive in that area you may want to steer clear.
- SoundReview
Here's what I don't like: The circular play, pause and volume button panel embedded on the right earcup isn't easy to navigate by touch. There's not enough tactile differentiation between the buttons.
- CNET
One thing you’re going to want to keep in mind with the 059’s is that they feature passive noise canceling, not active noise canceling. This means that the effectiveness of the noise cancellation is completely reliant on how the headphones fit your ears. These headphones will block out some ambient noise, much like earplugs, but there is no active technology within the device that processes the noise.
- Nerd Tech
These are perfectly serviceable headphones for taking calls while you’re on your run or commute, but I wouldn’t recommend setting up business conference calls or anything where the call quality is uber important. Stick to your business solutions for that.
- Android Guys
Not enough high-mid definition. Sounds different through audio cable.
- PC Magazine
Where we find them suspect is in the sound quality—while they are loud and powerful, there were some trade-offs with clarity during testing. When it comes to sound quality, the Mpow 059s are passable, but not mind-blowing. Where you find some shortcomings on the sound quality front is the muddiness of the frequency profile.
- Lifewire
They aren’t noise-canceling. If you are a true music and headphone junkie, and are looking for extremely rich bass quality and HD or noise-cancellation, you may be disappointed.
- Reviewing This
The material of the over-ear headphones is plastic, and given that it is not as expensive as the other premium brands, it is not surprising that the headband feels less durable and resilient. The outer part of the earcups is also made of plastic. This actually needs extra care because too much force or impact may break the headband and the hinges connecting it to the earcups.

An Overview On Wireless Headphones

There are times in life where a great pair of headphones can make everything a little easier. Whether it’s your morning commute, your daily walk, managing spreadsheets for your job or doing laundry and dishes, headphones can keep you entertained.

When shopping for a great pair of headphones, it can be easy to prioritize sound quality. But your first consideration should be how you’ll be wearing them. This starts with the degree to which you’ll need to filter outside noise. If you plan to use your headphones to listen to audiobooks during a loud train commute, for instance, noise cancellation will be an important feature. If you’re just wearing them around the house, this won’t be as important.

Some people wear headphones for working out and running. This type of activity requires a pair of headphones designed to stay in place while you’re wearing them. Ideally, you’ll have an adjustable headband that snaps into place and stays there. Also, consider how bulky you’ll want them to be if you’re lifting weights or going for a run.

Comfort is an important factor with headphones. The earcups are the most essential part of this since they’ll fit over your ears. If you’ll be wearing your headphones for multiple consecutive hours, consider how they’ll feel over time. Lightweight headphones can be less taxing, although you may not find the sound is as impressive. It can help to have earcups that include padding, covered in material designed to protect your skin rather than irritate it.

For wireless headphones, specifically, battery life is essential. Chances are you’re buying them so you aren’t tethered to a device, so you’re relying on a battery that will get you through many hours of listening. However, many wireless headphones also come with a 3.5 mm audio cable that can serve as a backup if you run out of juice before you’re ready.

Since you’ll be wearing your headphones in public, chances are you’ll find their appearance important. Some headphones come in a variety of color options to let you pick the one that works best for you. You’ll also find some are more basic in design, while others have a glossy finish or blend multiple colors for extra appeal.

Of course, there’s no getting around the importance of high-quality audio. If you’re primarily listening to podcasts or audiobooks, this might not be as big a deal. However, for those who listen to music, engage in gaming or watch TV shows or movies through headphones, audio quality will be an important factor.

DWYM Fun Fact

Headphones had an interesting start. In the 1880s, telephone operators were early adopters of the technology, using a version that fit over only one ear. It connected to a device that had a mouthpiece so the operators could communicate with the person at the other end. The entire unit weighed between 6 and 11 pounds and the operator was required to balance it on her shoulder throughout the workday. By 1895, consumers were using headphones that closely resembled a stethoscope in order to listen to music. But more modern headphones came along in 1910, when Nathaniel Baldwin invented a pair in his kitchen designed to be used by the military.

The Wireless Headphone Buying Guide

  • Noise cancellation goes beyond earcups that seal around your ears to keep noise out. You get built-in microphones that detect outside and emit noise that neutralizes it. This does help drain your battery faster, so keep that in mind.
  • Often while wearing wireless headphones, you’ll need to adjust what you’re hearing. Make sure these controls will be easy to access on your headphones. They should be positioned in an easy-to-access area, and the buttons themselves aren’t so small that you won’t be able to easily punch them. This is especially true for those wearing headphones while you’re running.
  • Durability can be a problem with headphones. Check out the build of the headband itself, since that is often where breaks happen.
  • Over-ear headphones can be quite bulky. If you plan to take them with you to work or the gym, look for a pair that folds up to slide into your bag. Some even come with a storage pouch to help keep your headphones safe while you travel.
  • You’ll see plenty of headphones that promote 30 or 40 hours of battery life. Keep in mind that this isn’t true for every type of activity. If you talk on the phone or have noise cancellation running, you might see a much shorter lifespan.
  • Some headphones come with an audio cable that you can use for continued listening if your batteries do die.
  • You’ll have to regularly charge your batteries. Pay attention to the cable provided, as well as how you’ll need to charge your headphones.
  • If you’ll be using your headphones in a relatively quiet area, such as an office or library, sound leakage is a concern. Even well-padded earcups can be prone to leaks. Look for one that will contain your audio.
  • Many wireless headphones also allow you to accept and make phone calls. Since you’ll need your voice to communicate loud and clear, look for one with a noise-canceling microphone.
  • Some headphones seem comfortable and well built until you wear them for a while and find you’re dealing with sweat buildup. Lightweight headphones are better at preventing this.
  • As you’re researching various models, consider how they’ll need to be charged. Make sure they come with the cables necessary for charging, as well.
  • Wireless headphones connect to your devices via Bluetooth. That means you’ll need to make sure you buy a pair that will work with the devices you’ll be using. Often this is a smartphone. In most cases, you shouldn’t have issues. But it’s also important to note that Bluetooth connectivity can be tricky with some headphones, while others connect seamlessly.
  • The quality of the Bluetooth technology built into your headphones also determines how smooth your listening experience will be. Bluetooth 5.0 is the preferred standard.
  • The build of the earcups is only part of what contributes to making your headphones comfortable. Some are angled for a better fit. The adjustability of the headband also plays a direct role in whether or not you can customize the fit for your own head size.
