Looks absolutely gorgeous on Nintendo Switch and on the TV.

Completely revamped Battle Mode adds proper maps and new modes.
- GameSpot
For those who skipped the Wii U, Mario Kart 8 introduced bigger tracks to accommodate 12 racers and vehicles that defy gravity to drive up walls and along ceilings, and sprout gliders to soar through the air. Those tracks all still look great on this new console, especially in portable mode.
- The Guardian
Tons of tracks and game modes. Includes everything from the top-notch Wii U game, plus more.

It has wonderful tracks and characters with beautiful graphics.
- Tech Spot
Tons of tracks, including DLC content.
- PC Mag
Each new area and mode is well worth checking out for players, and the completely redone option is sure to suck in hours of play time. It’s unquestionably the main selling point for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and it’s only further improved through the shareable nature and portability of the Nintendo Switch console itself.
- Game Rant
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe delivers a huge amount of racing goodness right out of the box, and it's a polished version of a Wii U entry that was a proper Battle Mode away from being top of class.
- Nintendo Life

In docked mode, the game jumps to 1080p and though you'd think it wouldn't be noticeable, it is. Mario Kart 8 was always a bright and beautiful game, but Deluxe in docked mode adds an additional level of clarity to the entire thing.

Too expensive for a re-release of a three year old game.

Some stuttering with four-player split-screen in testing.

Auto-accelerate is there, but I find it doesn't give me the precise control I want.
