Expert Reviews

What experts liked

Like the other webcams we tested, the C920S works right out of the box on Windows, macOS, and Chrome OS—just connect its USB-A plug to your computer (directly or via an adapter) and launch your video-recording or video-chat software of choice. We found the C920S’s privacy shutter a welcome addition.
Logitech’s C920S is a solid camera for a decent price. It supports a 1,920 × 1,080 resolution (30fps) during Skype conferences, and a 1,280 × 720 resolution using Apple’s FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, and more. If you’re simply recording video, you can take advantage of the higher Full HD resolution.
Easy to use with a laptop that doesn’t have its own camera, the C920s can be placed in a number of positions. Because the webcam connects through a USB port, most operating systems will automatically recognize it and install the appropriate drivers for video and audio support.
It also has an external privacy shutter. That’s a nice thing. In the past those concerned about privacy bought one of these after-market solutions.

What experts didn't like

The C920S does struggle in a dimly lit room—the frame rate drops as the camera adjusts its exposure settings to keep you visible, and you’ll see more image noise and less detail. It takes some time getting used to opening and closing the privacy shutter without removing the whole thing.
It doesn’t filter out your background.
A headset is necessary, however, because the device does not include speakers.
What’s changed vs the older variant? Not much. The “s” in the C920s name supposedly denotes stereo microphones, which should impact almost no-one.
