Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

Knobs that turn provide realistic play
Lots of reviewers also mention the modern design of the KidKraft Uptown Kitchen, as well, with its realistic details, like clicking knobs.
With opening faux-stainless-steel appliances, a speckled countertop, and chalkboard on the freezer for making grocery store lists, your child will love spending hours playing with this kitchen.
My kids are in love with this thing and can play with it for HOURS... Without killing each other.
The doors open and shut closed easily and securely, the unit (when tethered to the wall) is sturdy and secure enough to support a little monkey who decides to go for a climb, and everything just works pretty well.
There is a lot of storage space. Additional space above the sink
Plenty of space for more than one child to play together. Has a very realistic appearance with a lot of detail.
With its large size and realistic features, it's a nice playset, especially for more than one child.
The microwave, oven, dishwasher, fridge and freezer are storage areas behind their doors. And the manufacturer didn’t leave it at that. Above the sink, beside the microwave is an open storage shelf for more accessories.
What sets this kitchen apart from other play kitchens is every part of the kitchen has a function — the fridge, freezer, microwave, oven and dishwasher doors all open, the knobs on the stove turn, and the faucet rotates.
The Uptown Expresso is a big kitchen. It affords multiple kids enough playtime at the same time.
Unlike many other kitchens made for kids, the Uptown Espresso kitchen is a modern looking kitchen, with a stainless steel like appearance.
Fun features like pegs to hang things and a wall phone

What reviewers didn't like

Removable shelves and sink can get lost
The only thing I would change about it is the fact that it takes alllll the brain and will power from atleast two adults to put together as it comes completely separated.
Well, it is made of particle board, which means that it's quite heavy and the wood itself (hiding under the veneer) isn't very high quality. So if a hinge gets ripped out or anything, it will be much more of an issue than with real wood.
Finishing around the edges is not very good
Can be a challenge to assemble. If you want accessories, you must purchase them separately.
The assembly time is lengthy - some users said 4 to 6 hours.
From reviews online, you will notice the major complaints against the Espresso Playset have to do with package shipping and not manufacturing.
The steps were fairly easy to follow, but it still took us a long time to complete. My father-in-law and brother-in-law ended up coming over to help and it still took about three hours to complete.
A downside to this wooden play kitchen set is that it is a bit challenging to assemble
