Expert Reviews

What experts liked

A very insightful view of what she went through and how the system "works"...or doesn't work. Unbelievable resiliency displayed throughout this book.
I love the way the author drops bombs of information. Her conversations don’t have any dead time. Her story captures your heart.
This is a very enjoyable book, in the sense of learning about Brooke's fight in the legal system and with her family. Reading about Brooke's abuse was very troubling. I recommend reading this book, if you are up to the subject matter.
Child abuse and incestuous rape are terrible topics to think about. But to live them and walk thru that horror to a positive future is overwhelming. The insights contained from this book may never be needed but I am thankful I read this.

What experts didn't like

Really sad story, not written well, extremely confusing characters. Do not recommend this book at all. Didn't even finish the last chapters.
This was an incredibly difficult book to get through, for a couple of reasons. For me the biggest issue was the subject content. It gave me nightmares.
