Expert Reviews

What experts liked

This lightweight mild multi plotted storyline is filled with humor, intrigue, adventure, and romance. The high energy of the Malory/Anderson clan keeps the story moving along at a steady pace.
Thankfully, the second half was so much better. Once Judith and Nathan got aboard the ship for America, we actually get to know them. There’s decent chemistry between the two. I enjoyed Nathan a lot because he actually had all the makings of a sweet, beta-male. Lindsey tries to fit some more alpha, roguish traits to him but I preferred his sweetness.
This family is so unique and different that you can’t help but to fall in love with them

What experts didn't like

While Judith is definitely a Malory, she didn’t engage me as much some of the other characters did. I found her a quick to judge and assume the worse and it wasn’t attractive. Lindsey portrays her rather too well as an young over privileged member of gentry. She is childish at times, especially when she interacts with Nathan. There were also few scenes where her reactions after the fact didn’t mesh up to how I felt a young women of this era would or should react.
When I had slogged through 150 pages of dry details that totally overshadowed the one tiny bit of plot we got to see, which actually would have been a fun way for the couple to meet if it hadn’t been so mired in everything else, I put the book down.
However, the family is getting huge and for those who aren’t fans of the series, it might take you a while to get all the family relationships in order.
