Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

Speaking of music, the JBL Pulse 3 plays in 360-degrees so you get the same listening experience wherever you are, which is great for using outdoors.
Provides a decent volume level in a small to medium sized room.
Despite the lighting, the Pulse 3 is waterproof, and from an audio perspective, it delivers a strong output.
Even more challenging for the designers sound-wise; the upper 60 percent of the Pulse 3 is given over to an attractive 360-degree LED light show that offers a number of color and pattern variations.
The 3rd in the series brings a better and clearer sound quality than the others that came before.

What reviewers didn't like

Battery life is a mediocre 12 hours with the lights turned on, which is quite short compared to other speakers.
So-so recovery of room ambience, sounds somewhat congested, and lacks fine detail.
So it's only fair to call this speaker overpriced if you don't care about the LEDs and the outdoor-friendly design.
To be fair, the Pulse 3’s mediocre sound is hardly surprising when you consider its IPX7 waterproofing.
Like the JBL Pulse 1 and 2, the control panel is still without controls to skip to the next song or go back to the previous built in the speaker.
