Expert Reviews

What reviewers liked

This is a great book for anyone wanting to learn grammar, punctuation, and effective writing. It’s well-written, clear, concise, and full of good advice and useful information. The quizzes are all very helpful to test yourself, too.
Its unique workbook format is really user-friendly. In a nutshell, “The Blue Book of Grammar and Punctuation” offers some very fine fundamentals. Teachers are welcome to try it as the quizzes can help those taking exams from the students.
Chapters on not just grammar but also punctuation, capitalization, numbers take readers briskly through basic writing skills. The other half of the book consists of dozens of quizzes (and their answer keys). One benefit of the pairs of quizzes is that a tutor or teacher can use one as an oral quiz with students and assign the other as a written test. (Study partners can also quiz each other.)

What reviewers didn't like

This book was very pragmatic but its lack of detail and theory really made it a bit of a disappointment.
The writer truly helps the readers in this book to easily understand the material. But, still one disadvantage of doing that is not going deep into the topic.
Sometimes, the quizzes seem like overkill, but after you’ve completed not just one but two sixteen-item quizzes on affect versus effect, chances are that you’ll never confuse the two words again.
